Byron Nelson phenom setter Sophee Peterson announces commitment to Texas A&M

One of the best volleyball players in the Fort Worth-area announced her college commitment.

Trophy Club Byron Nelson setter Sophee Peterson, ahead of her junior campaign, committed to Texas A&M. Peterson is the No. 1 commit in the Class of 2027. In 2024, she led Byron Nelson to a Class 6A Division II championship and a stellar 40-1 overall record.

The Bobcats, with a dominant offense orchestrated by Peterson, didn’t drop a set in the postseason. In the championship game, Peterson flexed her talent, reaching 42 assists and a team-high 13 digs.

Peterson, as a sophomore, earned her second Max Preps All-American selection and was named the Max Preps’ Sophomore of the Year. She was named a Star-Telegram Player of the Year honorable mention.

“I am SO excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at Texas A&M University,” Peterson wrote on Instagram. “Thank you to my parents, sisters, and teammates for their constant love and support. Thank you to my coaches for believing in me and helping me navigate this process. And lastly, a huge thank you to the coaches at A&M for this opportunity!!!! GIG ‘EM.”

Byron Nelson will return Peterson, who tallied as well as Kylie Kleckner and Ashlyn Seay for a highly anticipated season.
