Throughout the 2024-25 school year, Fort Worth-area schools have had plenty of memorable moments — state championships, deep playoff runs, district titles, and more.

Which school had the best overall year? You decide. Read about the nominees and cast your vote for the 2024-25 Star-Telegram high school sports schools of the year. Voting ends at 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, June 17.

Southlake Carroll High School

Southlake Carroll is extremely well-rounded in athletics and currently sits at No. 2 in the UIL Class 6A Lone Star Cup standings.

The Dragon football team advanced to the Class 6A Division II state championship, despite being young and dealing with several injuries. Carroll boys basketball had its best season in two decades, winning a playoff game.

The cross-country team won the overall state championship, led by Caden Leonard, who also won two state titles at the UIL track meet. The baseball and boys’ soccer teams made it to the regional finals.

Aledo High School

Aledo athletics sets a high standard, and the Bearcats met it once again. The football team won a district title and made it to the regional finals.

The boys’ basketball team won a district title for the first time in program history, and the girls’ basketball team made it to the regional semifinals.

Aledo volleyball won an undefeated district title and made it to the state semifinals. The boys’ and girls’ soccer teams both won district championships. The Bearcats are No. 7 in the 5A Lone Star Cup standings.

Byron Nelson High School

Byron Nelson volleyball was dominant, winning a Class 6A Division II state championship without dropping a set in the playoffs.

The football team had a strong season, losing only to powerhouses Southlake Carroll and North Crowley. Bobcat baseball had a good playoff run, reaching the regional semifinals.

Byron Nelson is No. 21 in the 6A Lone Star Cup Standings.

Keller High School

Keller boys’ and girls’ swim won Class 6A state championships. Andrew Jurasek, in the 6A heavyweight division, won an individual wrestling state championship.

Keller baseball made it to the regional finals, and softball reached the regional semifinals. Keller is No. 11 in the 6A Lone Star Cup standings.

Boswell High School

The highlight of Boswell’s year was a Class 6A Division II state championship victory from the girls’ basketball team. The Pioneers ended the season with a national ranking. Boswell baseball also won a district championship.

North Crowley High School

North Crowley football took Texas by storm, winning the Class 6A Division I championship. The Panthers earned a No. 3 national ranking, taking down powerhouses like DeSoto and Duncanville.

North Crowley boys’ basketball also had a strong year, earning a top-10 state ranking. The girls’ basketball team also thrived, making it to the regional finals. The boys’ soccer team had a good year, winning a district title.

Grapevine

Grapevine had a well-rounded year with multiple deep playoff runs. The highlight was Mustang baseball, a program that won consecutive state championships.
