The Texas high school girls’ basketball regional finals are here.

See which Fort Worth-area teams punched their ticket to a state semifinal.

Boswell ties advances to state semifinal, makes school history

Boswell (37-2) was looking to tie its furthest playoff run in school history with a victory over Wolfforth Frenship.

The Pioneers delivered a strong 42-30 win to advance to a Class 6A Division II state semifinal on Friday, Feb. 21, at Sweetwater High School. Boswell, No. 2 in the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches rankings, will face either No. 3 Cypress Springs or No. 4 Lancaster in a state semifinal at a time and location that is to be determined.

To punch a ticket to a state championship, Boswell had to make it through a treacherous gauntlet of playoff opponents. The Class 6A Division II bracket includes the TABC’s top four programs, yet only one will make it to a title game.

North Crowley ends strong season with loss to Plano East

In the regional semifinals, Plano East eliminated South Grand Prairie, one of the favorites to win the Class 6A Division I state championship.

Plano East faced another challenge in North Crowley girls’ basketball (26-9), narrowly escaping with a 49-45 victory on Friday, Feb. 21 at W.G. Thomas Coliseum. The North Crowley Panthers, after a second-place finish in District 3-6A, played their best basketball in the playoffs.

North Crowley finished one win shy of appearing in a state semifinal for the first time in program history, according to UIL archives. In an all-around phenomenal year for North Crowley athletics, the girls’ basketball program continued to meet a high standard with a deep playoff run in Texas’ largest classification.

In the state semifinals, unranked Plano East will face No. 10 Cedar Hill, a team that beat No. 5 Duncanville 57-47 to advance. Cedar Hill will make its first state semifinal appearance since 2010, while Plano East will make its first appearance in school history.
