North Crowley running back, state champion Cornelius Warren III signs with Arizona
North Crowley running back Cornelius Warren III was one of the top unsigned prospects in Texas high school football, but that isn’t the case any longer.
Warren, a 247Sports three-star who helped power North Crowley to a state championship in Texas football’s largest classification, announced on Tuesday that he signed with Arizona. The star back was signed to UNLV but was granted a release due to a coaching change.
Warren, a Star-Telegram All-Area Super Team first-team selection, rushed for 1,607 yards and 18 touchdowns on 221 attempts and also had 172 yards and two scores as a receiver.
The numbers are eye-popping, even with Warren sharing carries with two talented running backs: Senior speedster Daniel Bray and Kiante Ingram, a rising talent.
Warren, with a 5-foot-10, 170-pound frame, was arguably the MVP of the state semifinal vs. Duncanville, rushing for 178 yards. In the state championship vs. Austin Westlake, he scampered his way to 217 yards and a touchdown to help secure a 50-21 dominant win.
247Sports ranks him as the No. 64 running back in the nation. Warren will join Bray, a Utah signee, in the Big 12 Conference. He had offers from Miami, Ole Miss, Texas Tech, Utah, Baylor and more.
