The Texas high school girls basketball bi-district round starts on Feb. 10, and teams from the Fort Worth area are preparing to play their final regular season game.

Here are the things to know with the playoffs looming. The UIL will split divisions and separate small and large school playoff teams into separate brackets based on enrollment.

District 4-6A: Byron Nelson’s dominance, Eaton looks to lock in spot

Byron Nelson has already clinched the No. 1 playoff spot out of District 4-6A, and Southlake Carroll will finish second. With smaller enrollments than their 4-6A peers, the Dragons and Bobcats will head to the Class 6A Division II bracket.

Keller Timber Creek has clinched a playoff spot and is currently third, while Haslet Eaton is in fourth and one game ahead of Hurst L.D. Bell. The Eaton Eagles will host Keller on Tuesday, Feb. 4, and can lock in a playoff spot with a victory.

Bell and Eaton split the tiebreakers. To have any chance, the Blue Raiders need to defeat Euless Trinity on Tuesday, Feb. 4 at L.D. Bell.

District 3-6A set in stone, SGP’s 8-6A dominance

Boswell girls’ basketball has already locked up a District 3-6A championship. The Pioneers have one game left against North Crowley on Tuesday, and they have an opportunity to win an undefeated district title.

All of District 3-6A has its playoff teams and spots set. Although Mansfield Legacy can finish the regular season with the same record as North Crowley, the records will be inconsequential due to the split-division playoff format.

In the Class 6A Division II playoffs, Boswell will grab the No. 1 spot, and Legacy will take the No. 2 spot out of District 3-6A. In Class 6A Division I, North Crowley will take the top spot, while Lake Ridge will take the second slot.

In District 8-6A, South Grand Prairie (26-6, 12-0) holds the top spot with an undefeated district record. Arlington Lamar and Arlington Bowie follow behind, and Arlington Martin (13-17, 8-5) holds the fourth spot. All other teams are eliminated.

A possibility includes Lamar and Bowie ending with the same record. The Martin Warriors could also catch Bowie if they upset South Grand Prairie, but due to their large enrollment, they have the second large school spot, while SGP takes the first, regardless of outcome.

Lamar can lock up the premier small school slot with a victory, while Bowie needs a victory over Haltom and a Lamar loss to trigger the 8-6A tiebreaker; the Vikings and Volunteers split the season series.

Class 5A: Aledo, Brewer lock up top spots

The District 5-5A playoff spots are nearly set. Brewer (24-9, 11-1) has locked up the top small school slot and also the district title. The Aledo Bearcats can lock up the top small school slot with a victory over Azle, while Fossil Ridge needs an Aledo loss and a victory to trigger a tiebreaker; the Bearcats have a clear advantage with two head-to-head victories over Fossil Ridge.

Granbury will be the No. 2 Division II squad, with Chisholm Trail, Azle, and Saginaw already eliminated.

In District 6-5A, No. 9 Argyle and Denton Ryan are at the top with 10-1 district records. The Eagles and Raiders split the season series, with Ryan securing a 54-50 overtime victory on Friday.

Denton Ryan will have the premier large schools spot while Argyle will have the same for the smaller schools. Birdville has locked up the second spot in the large school bracket.

Grapevine currently holds the fourth spot with one game remaining vs. Colleyville Heritage. If the Mustangs win, they’ll secure the final spot. If they lose, the Mustangs will have the same record as Richland, which will trigger a tiebreaker; Grapevine and Richland split the season series.

In District 8-5A, No. 8 Mansfield Summit has clinched a district championship.

Joshua and Mansfield Timberview have clinched playoff spots, while Cleburne, Burleson Centennial and Everman are in contention for the last spot.

Centennial and Everman need a win, and also need Cleburne to lose. The Yellowjackets will host Everman at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 4.

In District 7-5A, Paschal has clinched a share of the district title. Arlington Heights and Wyatt are battling for positioning in the middle, and Polytechnic has control over the the final playoff spot.

Even if Heights and Wyatt flip in the standings, the spots are set. Paschal and Heights will be the No. 1 and No. 2 teams in the large school bracket, while Wyatt and Polytechnic will be in the small school bracket.
