Elite Mansfield WR flips commitment from North Texas to TCU, signs with Frogs on early signing day
An elite receiver from Dallas-Fort Worth announced his commitment to TCU on Wednesday.
Mansfield receiver Jacobe Hayes signed with the Horned Frogs on early national signing day. Hayes, a 247Sports three-star prospect, was committed to North Texas, but de-committed on Monday, Dec. 2.
Hayes led Mansfield, a Class 6A school, with 83.1 receiving yards per game and 17 total touchdowns. He helped the Tigers finish the regular season at No. 7 in the Star-Telegram’s Class 6A area rankings.
In a commitment post on X, Hayes thanked family, friends, and coaches who helped him throughout his high school football career. He also thanked TCU’s coaching staff for the opportunity.
“I can’t wait to call Fort Worth my new home and represent the Horned Frogs with pride, passion and purpose,” Hayes wrote. “I’m ready to work hard and make the most of this opportunity. Lets go, Frogs!”
Hayes has a 5-foot-11, 170 pound frame and qualified for the 4x100 relay state race. He had offers from BYU, Arkansas State, UTEP and more. As a junior and sophomore, he was selected to the District 11-6A First Team while competing for a spot with state champions Duncanville and DeSoto.
TCU head coach Sonny Dykes commented on the signing on X.
“Jacobe (Hayes) is a big play waiting to happen,” Dykes wrote. “He finds a way to score touchdowns every time he touches the ball. Excited to have him stay home!”
