One of the best pass catchers in Dallas-Fort Worth announced his commitment on Thanksgiving.

North Crowley star receiver Quentin Gibson committed to Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes on Shannon Sharpe and Chad Ochocinco’s late-night YouTube talk show, “Nightcap.”

Gibson, a 247Sports three-star, chose Colorado over TCU, a school eight miles from North Crowley High School. He also had offers from Oklahoma State, SMU, Kansas State, Texas State and more.

Gibson’s recruiting stock has skyrocketed throughout the 2024 season. The speedy, versatile deep threat leads North Crowley, a Texas high school football Class 6A Division One title contender, with 30 touchdowns receptions and 1,660 receiving yards this season.

After not playing a prominent role in his junior year, he broke onto the scene as a senior with three elite performances. In his first three games, which included an upset win over reigning state champion DeSoto, he tallied 500 yards and 10 touchdowns, and college programs started to take notice.

Gibson has continued to thrive as a focal point of the Panthers’ offense and recently tallied 181 yards and four touchdowns vs. Odessa Permian in the area round. He has developed a strong connection with North Crowley quarterback Chris Jimerson Jr., a UNT commit.

North Crowley (12-0) and Gibson will face Coppell (12-0) in the regional semifinals at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 30, at Newsom Stadium.

“I bring the ability to flip the field,” Gibson told Sharpe, an NFL Hall of Famer. “No matter where we at. I bring that consistency. If you need a third-down conversion, throw me the ball. Hope to fill the shoes of LaJohntay Wester and Jimmy Horn.”

Gibson has one-upped himself throughout the season with highlight touchdowns, and North Crowley head coach Ray Gates, after the regular season finale vs. Crowley, said he is “not surprised.”

“He does it every single day in practice,” Gates said. “We get an opportunity to see it every day. ... There is not a ball that’s thrown that is out of reach. I’m done doubting his catch radius. He is superhuman.”

Thanksgiving was an eventful day for Colorado football. The Buffaloes also picked up commitments from three-star edges Alexander McPherson and London Merritt as well as four-star offensive tackle Carde Smith.
