UIL high school volleyball: Byron Nelson, Aledo, more set to compete in state semifinals

The high school volleyball state semifinals are here. See where the remaining Fort Worth-area teams will play with state championship appearances on the line.

The UIL volleyball state championships start on Nov. 21 and will run through Nov. 23.

A clash in Waco: Byron Nelson vs. College Park

Byron Nelson (38-1) is still alive after a three-set victory over Southlake Carroll. The Bobcats, Max Preps’ No. 1 ranked team, will play College Park at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 19, at Waco Midway High School, with the winner heading to the state title game.

After a 34-game win streak, Byron Nelson is looking to return to the state title game after winning the championship in the 2019 season.

A Curtis Culwell Center triple-header

Aledo volleyball (35-7) took down powerhouse Colleyville Heritage to become Class 5A D1 regional champions.

Now, they’ll face McKinney North at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 19, at the Curtis Culwell Center in Garland. The Bearcats have made the state semifinal four times but are still looking for its first volleyball state championship.

In the Class 5A D2 realm, Argyle Volleyball will face Frisco Wakeland at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 19, at the Curtis Culwell Center in Garland. The Eagles (39-5) swept Lubbock Cooper to punch a ticket to the state semifinals.

Argyle has five state semifinal appearances and, in 2015, won its sole volleyball state title.

The final game at the Curtis Culwell Center on Tuesday, Nov. 19, will be Decatur vs. Celna. First serve is scheduled for 8:30 p.m.

Decatur (30-13) took down West Plains in a five-set thriller to advance to the state semifinals. The Eagles have five state semifinal appearances, with the most recent one coming in the 2022 season.

Ponder vs. Bushland -- 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 16 at Colorado High School

Grandview vs. Goliad -- 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 16 at Hutto High School

Class 3A D2

Tolar vs. Boyd -- 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 16 at Mineral Wells High School
