Cole Leinart, son of the Heisman winner and USC winner Matt Leinart, commit to the SMU Mustangs on Wednesday, Nov. 6, according to Hayes Fawcett of On3.

Cole Leinart, a three-star quarterback from Redondo Beach High School in California, is a class of 2026 recruit. He had offers from Colorado, Pittsburgh and more, according to 247Sports.

Matt Leinart reacted on the social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter.

“Proud Dad,” wrote Leinart.

Cole Leinart was in attendance at Gerald J. Ford Stadium for SMU’s 48-25 victory over No. 18 Pittsburgh on Nov. 2.

Cole Leinart, with a 6-foot-4, 190-pound frame, is the second Class of 2026 recruit for the SMU Mustangs. He joins Lancaster’s Victor Lincoln, a 6-foot cornerback.

SMU also has a commitment from quarterback Ty Hawkins, a Class of 2025 four-star from IMG Academy who was previously committed to the TCU Horned Frogs. Hawkins is SMU’s third highest rated recruit of all time, according to 247Sports’ rankings.

The Mustangs recently received a commitment from North Crowley running back Daniel Bray, a transfer from Abilene Cooper. Bray is playing a pivotal role for the Panthers and joins fellow Fort Worth-area recruits in SMU’s Class of 2025.

DeSoto four-star wide receiver Daylon Singleton, Arlington Seguin wide receiver Carterrious Brown, Arlington wide receiver Isaiah Robertson, Duncanville cornerback Javion Holliday, DeSoto safety Sael Reyes and Duncanville athlete Tyren Polley Jr. are also committed to the Mustangs.
