Girls soccer: Two Southlake Carroll athletes tally hat tricks, more from Fort Worth-area
Southlake Carroll is ranked No. 1 in the Texas Girls Coaches Association Soccer Poll, and the Dragons lived up the high expectations in the bi-district round.
Southlake Carroll throttled Crowley 7-0 at Dragon Stadium on Tuesday, advancing to the area round. The Lady Dragons are looking to make it back to the state tournament following a regional final loss to Flower Mound Marcus in the 2023 season.
The Lady Dragons (21-0-1) have their sights set high. Head coach Matt Colvin, after his team recorded its 39th consecutive home win, said there was “definitely some rust” despite the lopsided score.
“We haven’t played a competitive match in a few weeks,” Colvin said. “There was some rust, especially around the goal. I thought we were patient. The spacing was good. Overall, we’ve just got to play more games.”
Southlake Carroll, in the area round, will fave Midland or Franklin. What’s it going to take for the Lady Dragons to make another deep playoff run?
“It’s going to take hard work, positivity and never giving up,” Fuller said.
Colvin said as the playoffs continue, efficiency and capitalizing on scoring chances will be key.
“The further you move on in the playoffs, the chances that you create dwindle,” Colvin said. “So, you’ve got to be more efficient in front of the goal. Tonight, we weren’t very efficient and that’s something we have to improve on.”
Southlake Carroll won a state championship in 2022, and the Lady Dragons are looking to reclaim the throne. The program has been consistent, recording an impressive 13 regional final appearances in program history.
Sophomore Kamdyn Fuller recorded the first goal, seizing a lead for her team. After junior Hannah Jordan added another with a strike to the right corner, Fuller extended the lead with a penalty kick goal; the Lady Dragons took a 3-0 lead into the half.
Colvin said Fuller has “great drive” and her competitiveness stands out.
“She has an ability to create her own shot,” Colvin said. “She puts the ball in the right spots.”
Jordan continued the offensive onslaught in the second half, extending the lead to 4-0 with her second goal. Fuller notched a hat trick, and Jordan followed suit moments later to give Carroll a 6-0 lead.
Colvin said Jordan is a box to box midfielder.
“She is very comfortable on the ball,” Colvin said. “She wants the ball and is good at creating opportunities for others, and she also has a nose for the goal.”
Freshman Presley Wilkerson scored the final goal of the game.
Although the Dragons ran away with a lead, Crowley (13-11-0) goal keeper Riley Bell was a force throughout the contest. She contained a high powered offense, holding Carroll’s offense off the scoreboard in the first 26 minutes.

Genevieve Dorasami had another chance for Birdville in the 76th minute, but her shot from 17 yards out hit the left post and bounced back into play. The teams battled through a scoreless first half, but the Spartans put on the most pressure after the first 20 minutes, despite not scoring.
