Week 10 roundup: Duncanville-DeSoto delayed, Boswell takes down Crowley and more

Duncanville, Desoto Delayed to Saturday

The 6A showdown of the year – maybe even century – will have to wait another day as the highly anticipated matchup of nationally ranked teams was hit with ongoing weather delays on Friday night.

Duncanville, the No. 1 team in 6A, and DeSoto, the No. 3 team, will kick off at 2 p.m. Saturday from Eagle Stadium in DeSoto.

Rain is forecasted in the area on Saturday as well, and the game does not have to be played as both teams are locked into their respective divisions for the playoffs.

Boswell 36, Crowley 28

Boswell kept its season alive as it rattled off 10 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to knock off Crowley 36-28.

The 10 points were part of 16 straight points scored by the Pioneers (6-3, 3-3 District 3-6A) to rally from a 28-20 deficit to keep even with Bell in the standings.

Tye Renfro threw a touchdown pass to Kairel Robertson from 11 yards out with 1:10 left in the third to start the Boswell run. Early in the fourth, it was Renfro again, this time with his legs as he took the keep for a 56-yard touchdown to give Boswell its second lead of the night at 33-28.

Renfro had four total touchdowns and 286 yards of total offense.

Justin Northwest 38, Centennial 20

Running back Ife Durodoye had another big game for Northwest as it locked up a playoff spot with a 38-20 win over Burleson Centennial.

Durodoye rushed 24 times for 263 yards and four touchdowns, putting his season total at 23.

The third quarter is where Northwest (8-1, 6-1 District 3-5A Division I) got separation from Centennial as it took a 17-14 halftime lead and scored 21 straight points turn it into a 38-14 lead.

Leddie Thompson ignited the run with a 54-yard touchdown pass to Kobey Wall, then on Northwest’s next two possessions, Durodoye picked up his third and fourth touchdowns of the night.

Northwest will face Denton Ryan next week in the season finale to determine playoff seeding.

Dunbar 36, Lake Worth 28

Looking to keep even with Kennedale atop the 6-4A Division I standings, Dunbar was able to take down Lake Worth for the second straight in district play with a 36-28 win.

Dunbar now meets Kennedale in a battle of undefeated teams in district play to crown the 2023 district champs.

Martin 58, Arlington 21

Arlington Martin (6-3, 5-0) District 8-6A remained perfect in district play with a dominating 58-21 win over Arlington on Thursday night.

The win sets up a showdown between Martin and Arlington Bowie – both team undefeated in district play – for the 8-6A district title.

Kennedale 42, Western Hills 0

Kennedale picked up its second straight shutout win as it blanked Western Hill 42-0 on Friday night.

After starting the year 0-3, Kennedale (6-3, 6-0) has won six straight and will meet Fort Worth Dunbar next week for the district title.
