Aledo sophomore running back Ray Guillory is the Fort Worth-area week 1 player of the week
The Star-Telegram readers have made their voices known.
Aledo running back Ray Guillory, a sophomore, was voted the Fort Worth-area player of the week. He had a monster performance against Dallas Parish Episcopal, scoring three total touchdowns and gaining 198 total yards.
On the first play of the game, he set the tone for the Bearcat’s 50-35 victory against the 2022 TAPPS D1 state champions. Senior quarterback Hauss Hejny delivered a short pass in the backfield, and Guillory, a transfer from Mansfield Lake Ridge, used elite speed to navigate through blocks all the way up the sideline and to the end zone.
Guillory’s second touchdown, a rushing score, was a misdirection, and Guillory cut left after showing right. He beat the safety and secured an easy 33-yard touchdown.
Prior to sitting for the majority of the second half due to the Bearcat’s lead, Guillory scored his final touchdown, a 17-yard run. He juked a few Panther defenders out of their boots in the process, running straight up the middle.
After the game, Aledo head coach Robby Jones said that he expected Guillory to have these types of performances. He added the sophomore running back let Texas high school football know what he’s capable of.
More than 3,500 reader votes were cast. Voting ended on Tuesday at 9 a.m.
