North Crowley, Colleyville Heritage secure wins and more from week 1 in Fort Worth-area

Luke Ullrich combined for 270 yards and two scores as Colleyville Heritage had no trouble with its season opener against Irving Nimitz, winning 47-13.

Within the first two minutes, Heritage’s defense made things difficult for Nimitz with a safety, and on the ensuing possession, Ullrich scored from two yards out to make the score 9-0 within the first four minutes.

The lead would swell to 30-3 by halftime as Heritage got another rushing touchdown from Ullrich, one from Hayden Golden and a 50-yard kickoff return from Zack Sogan.

Justin Northwest 21, Prosper Rock Hill 13

Nate Jean tallied three scored and 120 yards on the ground to lead Justin Northwest to a 21-13 win at home over Prosper Rock Hill.

It looked like a blowout in the making as Northwest jumped out to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter on the strength of two of Jean’s touchdown runs.

By the half, Rock Hill rallied back with two scores of its own in the second quarter to cut the Northwest lead to 14-13.

Jean added his third score of the game late in the third quarter – the only score of the half – to push Northwest’s lead to 21-13 as the defense shut down the Blue Hawks the rest of the game.

Hurst L.D. Bell 36, Bishop Lynch 14

Maddox Olatunde did it all for Hurst L.D. Bell with 83 yards passing, 82 yards rushing, 41 yards receiving and three total scores to lead the Blue Raiders to a 36-14 win over Bishop Lynch.

Olatunde finished with 206 total yards and led the Blue Raiders in all three offensive categories with LD Bell in full control of the game throughout.

Despite being outgained 366-354, Bell forced two turnovers, which turned into 14 points on the way to a 22-0 halftime lead.

Eugene Harris, Kameron Scott and Kenny Earskin were also big contributors in the run game for Bell, adding a combined 134 yards and two scores.

All Saints 55, Nolan Catholic 7

All Saints completely dominated Nolan Catholic in the season opener, leading from the opening kickoff on the way to a 55-7 win.

The TAPPS rivalry was over just as quick as it began as Reid Watkins took the opening kickoff 97 yards back for a score. The All Saints defense forced back-to-back Nolan Catholic punts and scored on each ensuing drive to go up 21-0 after one quarter.

By the half, All Saints lead 41-0 and cruised to the win.

On top of the kickoff return for a score, Watkins added two touchdown runs – his only carries on the night.

Crowley 38, Birdville 10

Caleb Williams – not the reigning Heisman trophy winner – had 229 total yards and four touchdowns to lead Crowley to a 38-10 season-opening win over Birdville.

Williams completed 15 of his 23 passes for 161 yards and three touchdowns, one each going to Curtis Johnson, Antayvious Ellis and Derrick Tasby.

Williams was also the high man on the ground with 68 yards rushing and a score as Crowley lead from start to finish.

Crowley opened the game with a 22-yard touchdown pass from Williams to Tasby and then added two more scores from Williams to lead 24-3 at the half. Crowley got on the board twice more to lead 38-10 midway through the fourth.

North Crowley 69, Arlington Sam Houston 13

It was an offensive explosion for North Crowley, which racked up 564 total yards on the way to a 69-13 win over Sam Houston.

Chris Jimerson led the Panthers’ offense with five total touchdowns and 320 total yards. Cornelius Warren opened the flood gates for North Crowley with a 32-yard touchdown run in the first quarter, and by the end of the first frame, the Panthers lead 21-0.

By the half, the score was 35-13, and it was more of the same in the second half with North Crowley putting up 34 more points en route to the big win.

Keller Timber Creek 49, Arlington Lamar 7

A big third quarter for Keller Timber Creek turned a close game into a blowout as the Falcons coasted by Arlington Lamar 49-7.

The Timber Creek defense started the scoring in the first quarter with a 73-yard interception returned for a score by Ian Gebhardt.

Timber Creek scored once more in the second to lead just 13-0 at the half. Lamar cut into that lead to open the second half with a 99-yard touchdown pass from Gannon Carey to Trenton Yancey, but on Lamar’s ensuing possession, the Falcons’ defense returned another interception for a score, this time by Connor Altine from 58 yards.

It led to Timber Creek scoring 29 straight points in the frame to go up 42-7 and cruise to the win.

Arlington Seguin 21, Midlothian 7

Seguin flexed its defensive might in a 21-7 win over Midlothian Thursday night at Choctaw Stadium.

The Cougars held Midlothian to just 134 yards of total offense and forced two takeaways in the win.

CJ Miller’s 10-yard touchdown run opened the scoring for Seguin as it held a 7-0 lead at the half, and midway through the third, Sirawn Evans threw a 14-yard touchdown pass to Malachi Meche to make it 14-0.

Midlothian picked up an early score in the final frame, but Chase Ramirez closed the door on any comeback bid with a 54-yard touchdown midway through the fourth to seal the win for Seguin.

Lake Travis 13, Arlington Martin 6

In a defensive struggle, Arlington Martin was unable to keep Lake Travis down as the Cavaliers rattled off 13 unanswered points in the final 3:09 to win 13-6 in Chad Rives’ coaching debut with the Warriors.

Martin allowed 408 yards of offense but kept Lake Travis off the board until the final frame as Kadyn Leon passed and ran for a touchdown to guide the Cavaliers in the comeback win.

Tristan Battle had a 52-yard touchdown pass to Brody Williams, which accounted for about a third of the total yards, as the Martin offense struggled the rest of the night.
