Boys track

ADAM BURLISON

Adam Burlison was a double winner at the UIL Class 5A state meet in May, winning gold in the 3200-meter run and 1600-meter run.

Burlison started his day taking first place in the 3200 with a time of 8:54.47. He set a 5A state meet record, breaking the previous mark by more than four seconds, set by Frisco Independence’s Carter Blunt in 2016.

Burlison was three seconds better than silver medalist Ayden Granados from McAllen Memorial. Later in the day, Burlison won the 1600 meter state championship in 4:08.64 - two seconds faster than Granados.

MANSFIELD TIMBERVIEW

Taylor Fingers won the Class 5A state title in the long jump with a leap of 20-feet-1.

Fingers, a LSU signee, also won silver in the triple jump (41-1).

Boys tennis

Kelan Williams reached the Class 3A state tournament for the Eagles, but had a tough draw in the first round in the quarterfinals, facing eventual state champion Theodore Buchanan of Corpus Christi London.

Williams gave Buchanan his toughest match of the tournament falling 6-4, 6-4.

Girls tennis

Meghna Arun Kumar won the state title for the second consecutive season. In 2022, she was the in Class 4A champ and this year she took the title in 5A.

Kumar has not dropped a set in two straight state tournament appearances going 6-0 both times.

She won 36 out of 40 sets in 2023.

Kumar defeated Ella Wertz from Frisco Wakeland 6-1, 6-2 in the title match in 2023.
