Star-Telegram names its boys and girls wrestlers of the year

The Star-Telegram presents its boys and girls wrestlers of the year for the 2022-23 school year:

SHAWN RYNCARZ

ARLINGTON MARTIN

Shawn Ryncarz was the Class 6A champion in the 126-pound class, winning the title 2-1 in three overtimes.

He was also the Region I champion and finished 2023 with a 44-3 record.

Ryncarz was the state runner up as a freshman in 2020 wrestling in the 106-pound class. He won state titles in 2021 (113-pound class) and 2022 (120).

As a team, the Warriors were state runners up all four years during Ryncarz tenure. All four years Martin was the runner up to Allen.

EULESS TRINITY

Azana King claimed the Class 6A state title in the 145-pound class with four pins at the state tournament.

Kind finished with a 47-2 record in her career at Trinity.
