GIRLS

Southlake Carroll 67, Saginaw 14

Camryn Tade scored a game-high 25 points and Milania Jordan added 18 as the Dragons rolled past the Rough Riders in a match up between ranked teams in the area.

Carroll (10-3) is No. 4 in the 6A area rankings while Saginaw (12-3) is No. 6 in 5A.

However, Saginaw was without sophomore Camille Williams, the area’s No. 1 scorer at just under 28 points per game. Williams was all-area co-newcomer of the year last season along with Jordan.

Tade is the No. 4 ranked player in the Fort Worth-area followed by Williams (6) and Jordan (12).

But without Williams, the Riders strugged all night against Carroll’s defense.

The Dragons led 20-2 after the first quarter just after a 3-pointer from freshman Gianna Jordan, one of Milania’s younger sisters on the team. Gianna is a twin along with freshman Natalia Jordan.

Tade hit a three, a fast break layup and had a 3-point play in the second quarter. Natalia Jordan also made a three as the Dragons led 41-4 at intermission.

Saginaw hit a pair of threes in the third quarter, one from senior Skyler Barber.

Caitlin Slowik nailed a three from the wing just before the buzzer and Carroll led 56-10 after three.

Arlington Bowie 53, West Mesquite 21

A 15-2 first quarter helped paced Bowie over West Mesquite. The Volunteers outscored the Wranglers in every quarter, 11-7 in the second; 8-6 in the third; and 19-6 in the fourth.

Alaisha Brown had a team-high 16 points followed by Blessing Teamer (11), Kennedy Holmes (9) and Seniya Wilson (7)

Bowie is 8-5.

Grapevine Faith 79, Dallas Hockaday 46

Three Faith Lions scored 17 or more in a convincing win over Hockaday.

HC Harding led all scorers with 21 points followed by MG Delahoz (18) and Evan O’Steen (17).

Faith is 12-2.

The Lions are No. 9 in the area and No. 3 in the state.

Delahoz is ranked No. 19 in the area followed by O’Steen at 21.

Birdville 46, Arlington 30

The Hawks held the Colts to single-digit scoring in three of four quarters, including three points in the first for a 16-point win.

Quinn Riiddle led the way with a game-high 14 points.

Siniria Ross added 10 for Birdville and Nashia Coleman added nine.

Birdville led 11-3 after the first quarter and 22-9 at halftime.

Keller 59, Terrell 32

Renee Chmiel led all scorers with 23 points and Jaeden Gillam added 15 as the Indians rolled to a 27-point win over Terrell.

Gillam, No. 23 in the area player rankings, scored 13 of her 15 in the first half, including nine in the second quarter as Keller led 29-6 at halftime.

Keller held Terrell scoreless in the second quarter.

Chmiel made 10 field goals and went 3 of 4 from the line.

Mallory McQuietor added seven for the Indians (11-5) is No. 3 in the 6A area rankings.

Haltom 64, Arlington Lamar 50

Jeremy Snow and Baron Smith Jr. dropped 20 points apiece and Kuol Atak added 17 as the Buffalos beat the Vikings.

Only four players scored for Haltom.

After the game was tied at 18 after the first quarter, Haltom outscored Lamar 14-7 in the second to grab a 32-25 lead at intermission.

Both teams scored 18 in the third before Haltom outscored Lamar 14-7 in the fourth quarter.

Byron Nelson 75, FW Dunbar 57

Finley Bizjack, the No. 1 ranked player in the area, dropped 23 points as the Bobcats defeated the Wildcats.

Caylon Jones and Jonathan McLane led Dunbar with 16 and 10 points respectively.

A 10-point advantage in the second quarter helped Byron pull away. The Bobcats led 15-12 after the first quarter and 34-21 at halftime.

Byron scored 29 in the fourth while Dunbar put up 25.

Braydn Alward added 16 for the Bobcats while Jacob MacDonald chipped in 10. The Bobcats, No. 11 in the state, improve to 11-3.

Keller Timber Creek 56, Azle 44

The Falcons held the Hornets to two points in the first quarter in their win. Timber Creek led 21-2 after the first quarter.

Azle did win the second quarter (15-10) and fourth quarter (11-9).

Kameran Vicente led all scorers with 19 points for Timber Creek followed by Caleb Smith (11) and Brayden Fickle (8).

Gavin Dean led Azle with 17 points. Sawyer Dotson added 10.

Burleson Centennial 73, Midlothian Heritage 43

The Spartans (11-3) opened District 8-5A play with a 30-point rout over the Jaguars.

Centennial, No. 3 in the 5A area rankings, led 23-7 after the first quarter and 37-20 at intermission. The Spartans then outscored Heritage 36-23 in the second half.

Abram Hicks, Ty’Jae Minter and Zachary Brooks each scored 12 points for the Spartans. The three combined for 16 steals and 14 assists.

Kendall Lawrence added 11 points followed by Zach Diaz (9) and Julius Huegel (9).
