Midlothian wins district title, Alvarado clinches berth and more from Fort Worth-area in Week 11
Week 11
Birdville 20, Dallas White 17
A 36-yard field goal inside of two minutes left in the game lifted Birdville to a 20-17 win over Dallas White on Friday night.
Rodrigo Figueroa drilled the go-ahead field goal as Birdville (8-2, 7-1) clinched the second seed in 5-5A Division 1 and White (5-5, 5-3) finishes in fourth.
Noah Normand had the hot hand for the Hawks, throwing for 319 yards to carry the offensive load as the running game only picked up 18 yards.
Normand connected with Triston Johnson nine times for 174 yards. The win sets up a first-round match up with Frisco Wakeland for Birdville at home.
Ennis 30, Summit 27
Ennis was able to weather the Summit second-half comeback to win in overtime 30-27 on Thursday night, clinching the third seed in 5-5A Division 2.
Summit (5-5, 4-3) was held to a field goal on the first possession of overtime after outscoring the Lions 14-7 in the second half. Jeremy Brown scored on a 2-yard touchdown run on the Lions (5-5, 5-2) ensuing possession to claim the win.
Summit had an opportunity to win in regulation, but the game-winning field goal attempt hit off the crossbar as time expired.
Jackson Gilkey led Ennis with 339 total yards and two scores, while Amare Durgess went for 26 carries and 164 yards and two scores to lead the Summit offense.
Midlothian 56, Red Oak 28
A 21-point first quarter for Midlothian helped the Panthers (10-0, 8-0 in 4-5A Division 1) cruise to a 56-28 win over Red Oak to claim the district title on Thursday night.
After Red Oak (8-2, 6-2) tied the score at 7 at the eight-minute mark of the first quarter, Midlothian ripped off 21 straight points to take a 28-13 lead into the half. The rout continued into the third quarter as the Panthers scored the first 14 points to go up 42-13 and put the game away late in the third quarter.
Five Panthers helped lead the running game to a combined 388 yards on 59 attempts, led by the quartet of De’ago Benson (99 yards on 18 carries and a score), Chad Ragle (92 yards on 9 carries and 2 scores), Michael Garber (20 carries for 85 yards and 2 scores) and E.J. Milton (8 carries for 70 yards with a score).
Midlothian faces Justin Northwest to open the playoffs next week at 7 p.m. on Friday at Midlothian ISD Stadium while Red Oak will open at home against Denton Ryan on Friday at 7 p.m.

Colleyville Heritage 57, Wyatt 21
Colleyville Heritage used a 43-0 run from the first quarter to the third quarter to roll right through O.D. Wyatt on Thursday, 57-21, to lock up the third seed out of 4-5A Division 2.
Three-star Princeton commit Weston Smith had a big night for the Panthers (7-3, 5-2) with 346 yards passing and four scores, connecting with Luke Ullrich six times for 133 yards and a score.
Heritage’s defense held Wyatt (7-3, 4-3) to minus-6 yards rushing, forcing Kaid Barrett to do everything on offense. Barrett finished with 337 yards and two passing touchdowns.
Heritage will meet Frisco Emerson at 7 p.m. on Friday at The Star in Frisco, and Wyatt will travel to meet Argyle at 7 p.m. on Friday.
Ryan 48, Northwest 21
Denton Ryan wrapped up the third seed in 3-5A Division 2 thanks to three touchdown night by Khalon Davis in a 48-21 win over Northwest.
Ryan (6-3, 6-2) dominated the first half, essentially putting the game away by halftime, leading 27-0 as Davis threw all three of his touchdowns in the half.
The Raiders’ defense also forced three interceptions on Texas Tech commit Jake Strong, who was held to just 135 yards passing.
Ife Durodoye led the Texans (6-4, 5-3) with 16 carries for 162 yards and two scores.
Ryan will meet Red Oak in the first round of the playoffs, and Northwest will take on Midlothian.
DeSoto 28, Mansfield 16
DeSoto used a 21-point second quarter to take the lead over Mansfield on the way to a 28-16 win on Thursday night.
Texas commit Johntay Cook scored two of his three touchdowns in the second quarter to help lead the Eagles (8-2, 6-1 in 11-6A) to the win. Cook added a third score late in the third to make the score 28-10 and finished the game with 11 catches for 161 yards.
The Tigers were led by Sergio Kennedy and James Johnson with 23 carries 157 yards and two scores.
Desoto will host Pflugerville Weiss at 7 p.m. Thursday to open the playoffs while Mansfield will travel to Killeen to take on Harker Heights at 7 p.m. Friday.
All Saints 45, Fort Worth Christian 42
Fort Worth All Saints used a 28-point first quarter and had to hold on late to take down Fort Worth Christian 45-42 on Thursday night.
The Saints (4-5, 2-2 in TAPPS D2 District 2) jumped out to a 21-0 lead, getting a pick-six to start the scoring. It was one of four interceptions All Saints collected on the night and helped the Saints jump out to a 28-7 lead. FWC (6-3, 1-3), led by Hogan Nelson’s 408 yard passing night and six touchdowns, was able to tie the game at 28 but the Saints then scored 17 straight to put the game out of reach.
The Cardinals scored 14 straight points to end the game but could not complete the comeback.
All Saints will be the third seed while Fort Worth Christian will be the fourth seed.
Alvarado 79, Life 35
Alvarado racked up 600 yards of offense and scored 21 points in the first three quarters each on the way to a 79-35 win over Waxahachie Life.
Jayden Bridgewater had a big game for Alvarado with 229 yards rushing and three touchdowns and Cardea Collier added 169 yards on the ground on nine attempts. Collier also threw for 159 yards and three scores.
The Alvarado (5-5, 2-2 in 5-4A Division 1) rushing attack scored seven times on the night and amassed 441 yards on 40 carries.
Kordell Berry led Life with 284 yards on 36 carries and four scores.
Alvarado will open the playoffs against Lake Worth.
