Texas high school basketball state rankings released, 14 Fort Worth-area teams ranked in 6A/5A
The Texas Association of Basketball Coaches released its high school basketball preseason state rankings for the upcoming 2022-23 season. Girls can start playing games on Nov. 4 with the boys one week later.
Fourteen Fort Worth-area boys and girls teams are ranked in the two largest classifications, led by the No. 3 Birdville boys in Class 5A.
Arlington Grace Prep is No. 1 in the Class 4A private school boys rankings. The Argyle Liberty Christian and FW Southwest Christian girls are No. 2 and No. 3 in 5A private schools.
Overall, there are 14 area boys teams in the UIL rankings, with six in 5A (Birdville 3, Summit 9, Wyatt 14, Timberview 17, Colleyville Heritage 22, Midlothian 23).
Arlington Martin boys are the highest ranked area team in 6A at No. 7.
Four-time defending state champ Duncanville is No. 1 in 6A. The boys rankings are highlighted by Dallas-area teams with Kimball at No. 1 in 5A, Carter No. 1 in 4A and Madison No. 1 in 3A.
Boswell girls are the highest area team in 6A at No. 15. Southlake Carroll is No. 21.
Argyle girls are No. 5 in 5A and Peaster girls are No. 4 in 3A.
The DeSoto and SGP girls are No. 1 and 2 in 6A.
Overall, there are 106 schools from the DFW/North Texas area that ranked in UIL and private schools.
