Fort Worth Eastern Hills will forfeit its next football game on Friday Sept. 23 against Kennedale, the Fort Worth school district announced on Tuesday, after players were suspended following a fight with Dallas Roosevelt on Thursday Sept. 8.

The altercation occurred at the 6:44 mark of the fourth quarter.

Every player was ejected, the game was called and Eastern Hills came away with a 35-12 victory.

Eastern Hills (2-1) was set to play Kennedale (1-2) in their district opener. Both teams have their bye this week. Kennedale will be looking for a replacement game.

Kennedale will be awarded a 15-point win, according to the district executive committee.

The cause of the fight between Eastern Hills and Roosevelt is unclear, but both benches were cleared.

Several fans also jumped over the fence and ran onto the field.

Per UIL rules, any player ejected from a contest is subject to an automatic penalty. The automatic penalty for such an ejection is as follows: Ejected player misses the rest of the game in which they were ejected plus the first half of the following game.

By rule, varsity players would have to sit out during the first half of the team’s next game, but Eastern Hills and FWISD elected to forfeit the Kennedale contest.

However, according to the Dallas Morning News, Roosevelt will play its JV players in the first half during its next game against Italy on Thursday Sept. 15. Varsity players will be available in the second half.
