After last playing each other back in 2015, the Trimble Tech Bulldogs and the Dallas Samuell Spartans met again during the Bulldogs’ homecoming win 42-6 on Thursday night at Farrington Field.

“Our kids will play hard and be excited,” Trimble Tech head coach M.K Hamilton said. “It’s homecoming, so they have something to prove and they wanna show our Bulldog nation that we’re here to play.”

Tech improved to 2-1. The Bulldogs last started 2-1 in 2019, but they only won two games that year. The football team went 1-9 during the past two seasons.

Tech’s first score came when Trent Honeycutt rushed for a touchdown with 54 seconds left on the clock during the first quarter. The next score came shortly after, when Tech’s Leo Lucero scored a touchdown with 36 seconds left in the quarter ending the first quarter 14-0.

The Spartans (1-2) defense could not stop the Bulldogs as Antonio Anderson ran a 20-yard touchdown putting the Bulldogs up 21-0 in the second quarter. Anderson then made another touchdown with 5:08 left in the second quarter. The Bulldogs ended the first half up 28-0.

The points kept coming in the second half for the Bulldogs as Honeycutt made another touchdown, this time with 32 seconds left in the third quarter. The score was then 35-0.

The fourth quarter saw touchdowns by both teams. First, Terry Starks with a rushing touchdown for the Bulldogs, bringing the score to 42-0 with 8:15 left in the fourth quarter. Samuell did not end the game without making a score of its own. Javeon Busby made a rushing touchdown at the 3:27 mark in the fourth quarter.

The Bulldogs have the next week off, and then will play Colleyville Heritage for their first district game back at Farrington Field Thursday, September 22. Samuell will play away at Dallas Conrad next Friday, September 16 at 7:30 p.m. for its last non-district game.
