Ranking the Top 25 Fort Worth-area high school volleyball players in 2022

The Texas high school volleyball season gets underway on Monday and expect Fort Worth-area teams to be among the best in the state ... the players are.

With another exciting season on our hands, let’s take a look at some of the top local prospects. It’s tough to condense it to only 25 as there are hundreds of great players on the west side of the metroplex.

Here’s the Top 25 players in the Fort Worth-area during the 2022 season:

1. Morgan Howard, Sr., S, Colleyville Heritage

  • Louisiana-Monroe commit
  • One of three players in the country last season to register 1,500 assists (1,531)
  • Ranked No. 1 in assists among Texans

  • Nearly 11 assists per set, 334 digs, 93 kills, 56 blocks and 52 aces
  • Had 30 assists in 26 games, 40 assists in 12 games and 50 assists in three games
  • The Panthers won 40 games and reached the regional semifinals

2. Kenna Buchanan, Sr., OH/UTIL, Midlothian

  • Texas A&M Corpus Christi commit
  • District 14-5A MVP
  • Only player in the area to finish the regular season with 500 kills/400 digs/0.370 hitting
  • 560 kills, 0.377 hitting, 426 digs, 46 blocks, 39 aces, 20 double-doubles

3. Reese Robins, Sr., OH/MB, Mansfield Timberview

  • Louisville commit
  • District 8-5A MVP
  • Led the area with over 700 kills and 170 blocks
  • Finished the regular season No. 2 in total kills among Texans

4. Kate Hansen, Sr., OH/MB, Weatherford

  • Texas Tech commit
  • Back-to-back District 3-6A Middle Blocker of the Year
  • 455 kills and program record 149 total blocks
  • Finished the regular season with the third-most blocks in the area

5. Caroline Kahle, Sr., OH/UTIL, Birdville

  • Stephen F. Austin commit
  • Led the Hawks in kills, digs and aces
  • Only player in Texas with 50 kills and 600 digs
  • 580 kills, 752 digs, 85 aces, 45 blocks, 32 double-doubles
  • Had 10 kills in 34 games, 20 digs in 16 games

6. Ella Busey, Sr., OH, Colleyville Heritage

  • Houston commit
  • District Offensive MVP and All-Area Co-Offensive MVP

  • 708 kills, 0.294 hitting, 244 digs, 55 aces, 54 blocks

  • 41 games with 10 kills or more

7. Taylor Polivka, Sr., S, Keller

  • Miami commit

  • Helped the Indians to the Class 6A state title game

  • District 4-6A Setter of the Year

  • Career-highs with 1,424 assists and 289 digs

8. Suli Davis, Soph., OH/MB, Colleyville Heritage

  • TAPPS 1-6A Newcomer of the Year

  • All-Area newcomer of the Year

  • 519 kills, 0.301 hitting, 220 digs, 57 blocks

  • 13 games with 20 kills

  • Season-high 42 kills

9. Leah Ford, Sr., MB, Keller

  • Southern Cal commit
  • Career-high in kills, hitting, aces and digs
  • 361 kills, 0.374 hitting, 102 total blocks
  • The Indians went to the Class 6A state championship
  • Made the 6A state all-tournament team

10. Reagan Engler, Sr., MB, Colleyville Heritage

  • Air Force commit
  • 391 kills, 0.365 hitting, 170 blocks
  • Had the second-most blocks in the area
  • Finished the regular season as the only player in the area with 150 blocks/0.400 hitting

11. Vivian Parker, Jr., OH, Aledo

  • District Co-Utility MVP
  • Helped Aledo to district title
  • Team-high 429 kills
  • 489 digs and 22 double-doubles

12. Jenna McMichael, Sr., DS, Midlothian

  • Dallas Baptist commit

  • District Defensive MVP

  • Helped the Panthers to district title

  • 854 digs

  • 6.6 digs per set

13. Reagan Fifer, Sr., S, Argyle Liberty Christian

  • Houston commit
  • 1,250 assists
  • Career-highs in assists, kills, aces, blocks and digs
  • 13 games with 30 assists
  • Helped the Warriors to 41 wins

14. Samantha Hoppes, Sr., OH, Byron Nelson

  • Boston College commit

  • 505 kills, 0.279 hitting

  • 70 blocks

  • 1 of 6 area players with 500 kills in the regular season

15. Karly Wells, Sr., OH/S, Keller Central

  • Dallas Baptist commit
  • Career-highs 484 kills and 383 assists
  • 244 digs
  • 4 triple-doubles
  • 1 of 3 area players to finish the regular season with 450 kills, 0.300 hitting

16. Emily Simmons, Sr., OH/UTIL, Haslet Eaton

  • First team all-district

  • 322 kills, 602 digs

  • 12 double-doubles

  • Second-most digs after the regular season among non-defensive specialists

17. Lainee Pyles, Jr., OH/UTIL, Keller Fossil Ridge

  • LSU commit
  • 483 kills, 0.275 hitting
  • 287 digs
  • 54 aces, 41 blocks

18. Stephanie Gutierrez, Sr., MB, Boswell

  • Rice commit
  • District 3-6A Co-Blocker of the Year

  • 62 solo blocks, 108 total blocks

  • 301 kills, 0.410 hitting

  • 1 of 2 area players to end the regular season with 100 blocks, 0.400 hitting

19. Madi Parrish, Sr., OH/UTIL, Boswell

  • 1 of 4 area players to have 400 kills and 400 digs

20. Georgia Stinson, Jr., S/UTIL, Haltom

  • 576 assists, 324 digs, 250 kills
  • 64 blocks, 35 aces
  • 5 triple-doubles
  • 13 doubles-doubles

21. Brynn Dowd, Sr., OH, Mansfield Legacy

  • Team-high 413 kills
  • 229 digs
  • Ended the regular season No. 14 in kills among area players
  • First team all-district

22. Makenna Dillow, Sr., DS, Azle

  • First team all-district
  • 904 digs
  • Most digs in the area among 2022 returners

23. Maddie Frank, Sr., MB, Aledo

  • Finished the regular season with the best hitting percentage in the area
  • 0.410 hitting in the regular season was third in the state
  • Finished with 308 kills and 0.403 hitting
  • 60 blocks

24. Riess Griffith, Sr., OH, Weatherford

  • Team-high 516 kills
  • Single season program record
  • 267 digs and 55 blocks
  • District 3-6A Co-Offensive MVP

25. Grace Sweeney, Jr., OH, Midlothian Heritage

  • District MVP
  • Finished with the fifth-most kills in the regular season
  • Ended the year with 559 kills
  • 32 games with double-digit kills
