Softball/Baseball Recap (5/13): Timber Creek rallies past Frenship, Aledo teams advance

Timber Creek 5, Frenship 4
Isabella Bojkovic had three RBI, including the go-ahead RBI single in the fifth and the Falcons took Game 1 in their Class 6A Region 1 quarterfinal series on Friday night.
Game 2 is noon Saturday at Midwestern State.
Timber Creek trailed 2-0 after three innings. The game was delayed for a couple hours due to inclement weather.
But Bojkovic tied it in the fourth with a two-run home run.
Then an inning later, she gave the Falcons the 3-2 lead with an RBI single. Keagyn Ure added an RBI single to make it 4-2.
Cameron Stuhr’s RBI single in the sixth pushed the lead to 5-2.
Nicole Stuhr threw over 140 pitches in the complete game win. She walked seven batters, but scattered eight hits and Frenship left 10 runners on base.
Aledo 10, Colleyville Heritage 0 (5)
Brenlee Gonzales threw a one-hitter and struck out three as the Ladycats beat the Panthers in Game 2 to complete the sweep in their 5A Region 1 quarterfinal series.
Aledo (30-2) won 4-1 in Game 1.
The Ladycats put the pressure on with three runs in the first inning. After Macy Graf had a lead off double to right, she scored on a Heritage error following a hard hit ball from Madysen Boutwell.
Presley Hull followed with a two-out two-run homer to left.
Aledo added four in the second with a two-run double from Marissa Powell and two-run homer from Texas Ray. RBIs from Boutwell, Hull and Ana Flores in the fourth put the run rule in place and Gonzales retired the last five batters.
Grandview 2, Whitesboro 1
Caydin Blackmon struck out nine as the Zebras edged out Whitesboro during Game 1 of their 3A Region 2 quarterfinal series.
Game 2 is 1 p.m. Saturday at Rockwall-Heath.
Blackmon allowed six hits on the night.
Morgan Holliday tripled in the third and scored on a tag up following a pop fly.
Whitesboro tied it in the top of the sixth and Grandview took the lead a half inning later.
Claire Baker scored on the RBI single from Olivia Bauerschlag.
Grapevine Faith 9, Southwest Christian 7
The Lions are headed back to the TAPPS D2 state semifinals after beating district rival SCS in the regional championship.
Jennifer and Ashley Nevill combined to go 5 for 10 at the plate with two home runs, seven RBI and three runs scored.
Ashley Nevill hit a grand slam in the first inning as Faith scored five runs. The Lions added three in the second to go up 8-0, but the Eagles would rally.
SCS answered with three runs in the bottom of the third.
Addison Davidson and Abbi Seaton combined to go 7 for 8 at the plate for the Eagles with three RBI and five runs.
The Eagles scored two in the fifth to pull within 8-5.
Anacapri Ciccone drove in two for Faith and Lindsay Cruson went 2 for 3. Karis Jones and Evan Smith also drove in runs for the Eagles.
Faith reached the state title game last season.
Baseball
Aledo 6, Burleson 4
The Bearcats rallied with six runs in the third to beat the Elks in a one game area round playoff game on Friday night.
Aledo will play Burleson Centennial in the regional quarterfinals.
Burleson came out strong with three runs in the bottom of the first inning. Drue Saenz hit a three-run home run to left.
David Jones led off the Aledo third with a single to center. Trace Mazon singled to left and Ethan Jaques hit a three-run homer to tie the game. Two batters later, Estevan Flores singled and Andrew Cambre walked.
Adrian Guzman walked and Caden Pulido hit a two-run single to center. Hunter Rudel sacrificed and Guzman scored to give Aledo a 6-3 lead.
Jaques went 3 for 4 at the plate.
Rudel pitched six innings and allowed three earned runs on seven hits and struck out seven batters.
Burleson Centennial 3, Granbury 1
Garrett McCoy allowed one run on four hits and struck out four as the Spartans beat the Pirates in Game 2 to complete the sweep in their 5A Region 1 area round series.
Granbury’s starter Tyler Sudderth allowed two earned runs on eight hits and struck out two.
Matthew Stancliff, who had five RBI in Game 1, went 3 for 3 with two doubles and a triple. Stancliff, River Curs and Aiden Hatton had RBIs for Centennial, which put up 22 runs in Game 1 on Thursday.
Levi Martinez drove in Granbury’s only run.
Crowley 8, Birdville 6
The Eagles beat the Hawks in Game 2 to even the series in the 5A Region 1 area round.
Game 3 is noon Saturday at Chisholm Trail.
Birdville won 6-0 in Game 1 on Thursday.
The Hawks put the pressure on with three runs in the first inning. Will Bush hit an RBI single and scored on a wild pitch. Bynum Martinez added a RBI double to left field.
Crowley got one in the first inning with an RBI sac fly.
RBI doubles from Christian Arriaga and Jay Parrilla, and an RBI single by Isaac Morales evened the scored at 4-4 in the second.
Martinez singled in the fourth to give Birdville a 6-4 lead, but the Eagles scored four in the sixth. Two hit batters and a single loaded the bases and Nate Boultinghouse had an RBI walk. Another hit batter tied the game at 6-6.
Another hit batter and RBI walk gave Crowley an 8-6 lead.
Keller 8, Pebble Hills 5
The Indians scored five runs in the top of the seventh to beat Pebble Hills in Game 1 of their 6A Region 1 area round series.
Game 2 is 10 a.m. Saturday at Andrews.
Keller led 3-0 after five, but Pebble Hills scored five runs in the bottom of the sixth to grab a 5-3 lead.
Mike Dattalo led off the Keller seventh with a double to left. A walk and error loaded the bases and Jackson Hill walked to score Ryan Ventura. A hit batter and another walk gave Keller a 6-5 lead.
Zach Makarewich grounded into a fielder’s choice that pushed the lead to 7-5 and Grant Simpson was hit by a pitch to plate Charlie Tomlinson.
Southlake Carroll 8, Americas 0
Griffin Herring threw a one-hitter and struck out 13 as the Dragons beat Americas in a one-game 6A Region 1 area round playoff game.
Herring, an LSU commit, needed 85 pitches to complete seven innings. He struck out 15 batters in Carroll’s bi-district win over LD Bell.
Ben Tryon, who homered vs. Bell, had two doubles. Owen Proksch hit a grand slam to cap off a five-run second inning. Nick Jones, Clark Springs and Spencer Simpson also drove in runs for the Dragons.
