Softball/Baseball recap (5/6): Lake Ridge wins one gamer, Timber Creek wins 2 to advance and more

Mansfield Lake Ridge 6, Tyler Legacy 3
The Eagles rallied with three runs in the fourth inning to beat the Raiders in a one-game Class 6A Region 2 area round series on Friday night at Lake Ridge.
Lake Ridge (24-6) clinched the area round championship and will play either Harker Heights or Sachse in the regional quarterfinals.
The Raiders led 3-2 after the third inning.
Oklahoma State commit Tia Warsop hit an RBI double to left that tied the game at 3-3 in the bottom of the fourth. She scored the go-ahead run a batter later on a Paris Johnson chopper that just escaped the infield.
Kassidy Chance added another RBI in the inning to put Lake Ridge up 5-3. With a Legacy runner at third in the fifth, the Eagles turned a 6-3-2 double play with a tag at home to get out of the inning. Raigan Brannon added an RBI double in the fifth to push the lead to 6-3.
Lake Ridge led 2-0 after the first inning when Chance ripped a pitch over the center fielder to score Warsop and Johnson.
Brooklyn Morris and Avery Hoang led the Eagles from the mound.

After being on the wrong end of a no-hitter in Game 1 on Thursday, the Falcons won two on Friday to win their 6A Region 1 area round series over the Troopers.
Timber Creek (18-15) advances to the regional quarterfinals for the first time since 2017.
Eastwood pitcher Miranda Guillen threw a no-hitter over the Falcons in Game 1, but the Falcons put up 12 runs on 12 hits against her in the Game 3 clincher.
Things looked bad for Timber Creek when it trailed 4-0 after the first inning and 5-1 after three. But the Falcons exploded for seven runs in the fourth and pulled away with three in the sixth.
Isabella Bojkovic smashed two home runs and Megan Allen added one. Bojkovic, Allen and Maddisan Noriega combined for seven hits and nine RBI.
Saniya Hill and Kyndel McDaniel homered in Game 2’s 8-1 win. Pitcher Nicole Stuhr allowed four hits, one unearned run and struck out five for the Falcons.
Argyle 13, Lampasas 0 (5)
Ava Edwards threw a one-hitter and struck out five as the Eagles won their one-game 4A Region 1 area round series.
Maya Bland went 3 for 3 with five RBI.
Regan Dillon drove in two and Riley Owen went 3 for 4 with one RBI. Keira Inman had two RBI and three runs and Taylor Platt walked three times with two runs scored.
Aledo 11, Mansfield Legacy 1 (5)
Presley Hull got three hits and four RBI as the Ladycats beat the Broncos in Game 1 of their 5A Region 1 area round series at Aledo.
Game 2 is 11 a.m. Saturday at Legacy.
The Broncos (22-7) scored their only run in the top of the first inning when Carly Cox drove in Natalie Moreaux.
Aledo (27-2) then went for four runs in the bottom half, getting RBIs from Texas Ray, Presley Hull and Allison Mallard. Hull added a two-run double in the second to make it 6-1.
Marissa Powell and Hull upped the lead to 9-1 in the fourth. Claire Byars’ RBI double drove in Hannah Pack in the fifth and Powell ended the game with a long double in left field. Missouri commit Nathalie Touchet went all five innings and allowed five hits while striking out four.
Baseball
Keller 5, FW Paschal 2
Michael Dattalo drove in four runs and the Indians completed the sweep over the Panthers in their 6A Region 1 bi-district series on Friday at Paschal.
Keller won Game 1, 3-2 in 11 innings.
Zach Erdman pitched six innings for Keller (20-6) and allowed four hits, two runs and had nine strikeouts.
The Panthers took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the first on an RBI double from Brittain Urbaniak. JP Hinojos and Chris Darner both scored.
But that was all the scoring for Paschal as Keller got four doubles, two from Dattalo. Keller pulled away with two runs in the fifth and two in the seventh. Ty Zahradnik came on in the seventh and struck two of the three batters he faced.
Fisher Polydoroff went 2 for 3 with a double and three runs.
Boswell 9, Byron Nelson 2
Six different players drove in a run as the Pioneers defeated the Bobcats in Game 1 of their 6A Region 1 bi-district series at Byron Nelson.
Game 2 is 11 a.m. Saturday at Boswell.
Boswell (19-8-2) opened the game up with five runs in the top of the third. The four batters reached base with Josh Jones hitting an RBI single. Ty Adams added an RBI ground out followed by RBIs from Brantley Gregory and Colton Cauthen. Gregory scored on a wild pitch to make it 5-0.
Back to back RBI walks pushed the Boswell lead to 7-0 in the fifth. Back to back RBI hit by pitches made it 9-1 in the seventh.
Riley Nelson had the lone RBI for Byron.
Cauthen went 6 1/3 innings and allowed five hits while striking out seven batters.
Burleson Centennial 12, Saginaw 0 (6)
Logan Taylor threw a three-hitter and struck out nine as the Spartans took Game 1 of their 5A Region 1 bi district series over the Rough Riders at Everman.
Game 2 is noon Saturday back at Everman.
Taylor needed just 76 pitches with 55 going for strikes.
Matthew Stancliff went 3 for 5 with five RBI while River Curs, Garrett McCoy and Zach Applegate each drove in two runs for the Spartans (21-10). Centennial finished with 13 hits, six going for extra bases.
Aiden Hatton went 3 for 4 with an RBI and two runs scored.
Azle 2, Birdville 1 (8)
An error in the top of the eighth pushed the Hornets past the Hawks in Game 1 of their 5A Region 1 bi-district series at Saginaw.
Game 2 is 1 p.m. Saturday back at Saginaw.
Cooper Sexton went six innings and allowed three hits with six strikeouts for Azle (19-5).
Oklahoma commit Parker Hutyra went seven innings and allowed three hits with eight strikeouts for Birdville (21-8-1).
Justin Northwest 4, WF Rider 0
The Texans shut out the Raiders to win a one-game 5A Region 1 bi-district series. It was Northwest’s first bi-district championship since 2017.
Northwest (14-11-1) finished third in District 6-5A while Rider (20-9) was one of three district champs from 5-5A.
Northwest will play the Legacy-Trimble Tech winner in the second round.
Cole Barton drove in two runs and Kaleb Higgs went 2 for 4 and one RBI. Glynn Wilson added one RBI. Carter Rasmussen went 6 1/3 innings and allowed three hits while striking out nine.
