LSU commit Griffin Herring shut down 15 batters and Ben Tryon hit a solo home run as the Dragons eliminated the Blue Raiders in a one-game bi-district playoff game on Thursday at Carroll.

Bell (15-12-3) starting pitcher Cameron Harvath matched Herring nearly pitch for pitch through the first three innings while also keeping the Dragons scoreless.

Harvath gave up two-out singles in the first two innings, but was able to limit the threat. The same came in the third when Ethan Mendoza singled to left that set up Carroll with runners in scoring position and one out.

Harvath got a grounder right back to him for the second out and Hudson Knight made a nifty grab at second to get the force out to first that ended the frame.

Carroll finally scored in the bottom of the fourth when Nick Jones and Clark Springs led off with back to back singles. The Dragons scored when a pitch went to the back stop and then Tyson Drake sent a high fly to right field and Brady Miller scored after tagging up from third.

Herring got in the groove from the fourth on. He struck out the side in the fourth and fifth innings. Tryon hit a 1-0 pitch over the right field wall to give Carroll a 3-0 lead in the fifth.
