Softball recap (4/19): Timber Creek knocks off Carroll, top shortstop homers in return

Timber Creek 6, Southlake Carroll 3

Isabella Bojkovic had two RBI and the Falcons beat the Dragons in a key District 4-6A game on Tuesday.

Nicole Stuhr gave up 11 hits, but limited Carroll to two earned runs and struck out four batters in seven innings.

Trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the third, Timber Creek scored three runs for a 3-1 lead. The first four batters reached base capped by an RBI single from Saniya Hill. Megan Allen hit into a fielder’s choice that scored another run and Kennedy Bevers’ RBI single to right extended the lead to 3-1.

The lead grew to 6-1 in the fourth on a two-run single from Bojkovic. Morgan Cashon went 3 for 4 and Brooke Berwick and Claire Carrick drove in a run for the Dragons.

Keller Central 5, Fossil Ridge 2

Brianna McFaddin went 3 for 4 in the lead off position and Kirsten Wilkinson picked up the complete-game win as the Chargers defeated the Panthers in District 4-6A.

Three of the Chargers’ runs came on balls that went to the back-stop. The first came in the top of the third for a 1-0 lead. Central extended its lead to 3-0 in the top of the sixth.

Ridge cut it to 3-2 in the bottom of the sixth on a two-run double from Destiny Lopez, who drilled a pitch down the third base line.

Central added two more insurance runs in the top of the seventh on a McFaddin run and a Morgan Crandall RBI ground out.

Ridge pitcher Mady Riffel went seven innings and struck out 10.

Aledo 22, Wichita Falls 0

Macy Graf, the preseason No. 1 player in the Fort Worth area, returned from injury for the first time in two months and went 3 for 3 with four runs scored in the Ladycats’ District 5-5A win over the Coyotes.

Graf, who is a Mississippi State signee, hit an inside the park home run in her first bat since the opening week of the season to lead off the bottom of the first inning. She finished with two RBI and two stolen bases.

Aledo improved to 22-2 and extended its win streak to 13 games. The Ladycats picked up 15 hits with 11 going for extra bases. North Texas bound pitcher Kayleigh Smith had three doubles and three RBI while allowing one hit and striking out seven in three innings.

Nathalie Touchet allowed one hit and struck out five in two innings of relief. Rhett Gabbert had a team-high four RBI and Hannah Pack went 3 for 4 with two RBI. Marissa Powell drove in a pair and scored four runs. Kaylee Lucas also drove in two RBI.

Keller 10, Byron Nelson 5

The Indians scored seven runs in the top of the seventh to turn a 5-3 deficit into a 10-5 win over the Bobcats in District 4-6A.

Byron took an early 2-0 lead in the first inning on a pair of RBI singles by Niya Munoz and Avery Couch. Keller tied it a half inning later on an RBI double from Mya Gonzales and RBI single from Meredith Henderson. The Indians grabbed a 3-2 lead in the fourth when Gonzales scored on an single from Sadie Beck to center.

A pair of Keller errors in the fifth put Byron on top 5-3.

Gonzales homered in the seventh to put Keller up 8-5 and Emily Legg’s two-run single pushed it to 10-5.

With the win, Keller clinched the district championship.

Weatherford 3, LD Bell 2

The Kangaroos rallied from a 2-0 deficit to beat the Blue Raiders in District 3-6A. Lauren Belles allowed three hits and struck out 11.

Bell pitcher Angelina Aguilera allowed three hits, two earned runs and also struck out 11 batters.

Bell grabbed a 2-0 lead in the third on RBIs from Kadynce Crenshaw and Aia Lilomaiava.

Hanna Bartels hit a two-out single in the fourth and scored on a Kaylee Embrey triple to left to cut the lead to 2-1. Landry Fonseca hit a hard ground ball and reached on an error and Embrey scored to make it 2-2.

Grace Thompson smacked the go-ahead solo home run in the fifth off a 2-2 pitch. Belles shut down Bell in order with two strikeouts in the fifth and retired the final 13 batters.

Boswell 15, Euless Trinity 0

The Pioneers scored eight runs in the bottom of the first inning to clinch the District 3-6A championship.

Alli Stidham threw a one-hit shutout in four innings and struck out seven batters. She had two RBI from the plate.

Harleigh Russell drove in two and scored twice. Santrea Armstead went 2 for 3 and three RBI and Kaylee Salle went 3 for 3 with two RBI. Malia Jones also drove in a pair.

Byrdie Skipper and Danielle Bohanon also had RBIs.

Colleyville Heritage 6, Birdville 4

Karine Morrison drove in three runs and the Panthers beat the Hawks to clinch the District 6-5A championship.

Morrison, Luna Flores and Alexis Perales had RBIs in a three-run first inning for the Panthers. Flores and Graci Green led off the fifth with a single and double and both scored on a double to center by Morrison.

A Perales single to left scored Morrison to make it 6-0.

The Hawks scored all four runs in the seventh with RBIs from Alex Baca, Coryn Burris and Emma Becraft.

McKinley Swaim got the win for Heritage with two earned runs and five strikeouts in seven innings.

Saginaw 18, FW Trimble Tech 6

Zoey Hamilton erupted for the cycle and eight RBI as the Rough Riders improved to 13-1 to clinch the District 7-5A championship.

Hamilton went 4 for 4 with an RBI single in the fifth. She hit a three-run double in the fourth to put Saginaw up 6-4. She had an inside the park homer in the second, and ended the game in the fifth with a three-run triple.

Saginaw scored 10 runs and brought up 13 batters in the fifth. Lexi Lunceford, Gabby Reed, Makayla Jewett, Baylee Baker, Anely Paz, Emily Hann and Sayeli Heredia all drove in runs for the Rough Riders.
