High school softball recap (4/5): Boswell edges out Weatherford, Joshua pitcher Ks 18
Boswell 4, Weatherford 3
Alli Stidham has been the best pitcher in the Fort Worth area this season and she continued her strong year on Tuesday during the Pioneers’ District 3-6A win at Weatherford.
Stidham (18-1) struck out 11 batters and hit a solo home run in the top of the second, and then held on against a late Weatherford rally to send Boswell to 21-3 overall and 9-0 in district.
Boswell, No. 1 in the area Class 6A rankings, sweeps the season series with Weatherford (15-8, 7-2).
The Pioneers won 2-1 in their first meeting.
Going up against fellow preseason all-area pitcher in Weatherford’s Lauren Belles (13-4), both Belles and Stidham had a clean first inning with a pair of strikeouts.
Then Stidham led off the second and belted a 0-2 pitch to left field for her third home run of the season. Boswell extended its lead to 3-0 in the third when the Pioneers rallied with two outs.
Byrdie Skipper singled to center and scored on Santrea Armstead’s team-leading eighth homer of the season.
After going down in order through the first three innings, Weatherford got its first base runner when Morgan Skold led off the fourth inning with a single to center.
Skold was able to advance to third and scored on a sac fly from Hannah Reed to cut the lead to 3-1.
Stidham hit a one-out double in the sixth and courtesy runner Hailey Wigington scored on Layla David’s RBI single to right to put Boswell back on top by three.
Down to their final out in the seventh, the Kangaroos got back-to-back RBI base hits to pull within one. Mykah Gallaher hit an RBI triple and Grace Thompson followed with an RBI single.
Weatherford did hit two long balls in the inning, but Boswell left fielder Addi Cook caught both at the warning track, including on the final out with the game-tying run on base.
Belles struck out eight batters in the losing effort.
Joshua 2, Ennis 0
Owls’ pitcher Catie Amador only needed two runs of support as she struck out 18 batters during her two-hit shutout in a District 14-5A victory over district-leading Ennis.
Both of Joshua’s runs came in the bottom of the third inning.
The first four batters reached base in the inning, starting with back-to-back singles from Kaitlynn McBrayer and Zaidyn Streeter. Rylie Rumfield reached on an Ennis error and Amador drew a bases-loaded walk for the first run.
Streeter scored on an RBI ground out by Ditha Gonzales and that’s all Amador needed.
Amador struck out the first six batters and 12 of the first 13 she faced.
She struck out the side in the first, second, fourth and fifth innings.
The Owls improved to 14-6-1 overall and 5-2 in district. Ennis dropped to 6-2 in district.
Mansfield Legacy 11, Burleson 3
The Broncos scored three runs in the second and five runs in the fourth to pull away from the Elks during their District 8-5A win. Legacy improved to 16-5 overall and 9-1 in district.

Moreaux also doubled and drove in two. Ryleigh Stinson homered and Carly Cox had two RBI.
Emily Jacobs led Burleson with two home runs.

The Royals hit four doubles and six players drove in a run. Anissa Hill led the team with two RBI.

Nicole Stuhr threw a no-hitter and the Falcons homered three times as they run-ruled the Panthers in District 4-6A. Stuhr struck out 10 batters.
Isabella Bojkovic, Saniya Hill and Kyndel McDaniel all hit the long ball.
McDaniel went 3 for 4 with four RBI. Kennedy Bevers went 3 for 4 with a double and two RBI.
Bevers’ two-run double scored Hill and Bojkovic to end the game in the fifth.
Keller 8, Southlake Carroll 3
The Indians scored seven runs in the final two innings to beat the Dragons in District 4-6A and even the series. Carroll won the first meeting 9-8.
Trailing 2-0 in the fifth, Keller’s Meredith Henderson had a lead-off double and scored on Carley Genzer’s sac fly. Carroll added one in the bottom of the inning to make it 3-1. Henderson tied it in the sixth with a two-run double and Mya Gonzales’ RBI sac fly gave the Indians a 4-3 lead.
