Basketball recap (2/11): Timber Creek, Glen Rose girls win seeding games and more from Fort Worth area
Boys
Arlington 60, Arlington Lamar 58
Tyler Burleson scored a game-high 27 points to lead the Colts past the Vikings in District 8-6A on Friday night.
Jakota Woodard led Lamar with 15.
Both teams scored 19 points in the second quarter and 16 points in the fourth.
Arlington out scored Lamar 10-6 in the third, proving to be the difference.
Keller 77, Keller Central 67
The Keller Indians had four players in double digits led by Grayson Price and Brooks Bahr, who both dropped 15 points, during their District 4-6A win over the Chargers on Friday night.
Keller improves to 11-0 and has already clinched the district championship.
Central ends the season 7-5 and is playoff bound.
The Indians led 21-11 after the first quarter. Central cut the lead at half after out scoring Keller 24-21 in the second.
Keller upped the lead to 16 points after three.
Parker Hannah and Sven Verloop added 13 and 11 points for the Indians. Central was led by Mason Jones’ 22 points followed by DaeVeon Scott’s 11 and Nick Young’s 10.
Argyle 44, Decatur 26
The defending 4A state champs Argyle Eagles beat Decatur in a District 7-4A game Friday night to clinch the district championship while winning their 11-straight.
Argyle led 13-9 after the first quarter and 20-13 at halftime.
Argyle, which beat Decatur 53-42 in January, upped its lead to 31-20 after the third quarter.
Mansfield Timberview 69, Everman 54
Chendall Weaver scored 17 points and the Timberview Wolves beat out the Everman Bulldogs in District 8-5A on Friday night.
The win keep Timberview in the hunt for the district championship. The Wolves are tied for first with Mansfield Summit at 12-1 with their final game on Tuesday against Burleson Centennial.
Summit plays Arlington Seguin on Tuesday. The season series is tied between Timberview and Summit.
Everman came out strong in the first quarter, holding the Wolves to only 10 points and leading 18-10. Jaheim Patterson and Derek Williams both made two 3-pointers in the period.
The Bulldogs continued to lead at 29-28 during halftime.
Timberview pulled away with a 26-8 third quarter performance. Daniel Vieira Tuck scored 15 for the Wolves. Samir Dhalle added 13. Williams led Everman with 20 points. Kamren Doss added 14.
Mansfield Summit 78, Burleson Centennial 46
Four Summit Jaguars scored in double figures led by David Terrell’s 17 points and Summit remains tied for first in 8-5A with Timberview after their win over the Spartans on Friday night.
Richard Lemboye and Nick Shogbonyo added 15 and 14 points for the Jags.
Summit, the No. 1 Class 5A area team, led 17-7 after the first quarter. The lead grew to 42-23 at halftime and 60-37 after three.
Bryce Robinson led Centennial with 16 points. Kendall Lawrence added 10 points and 11 rebounds.
Girls
Keller Timber Creek 39, Keller Fossil Ridge 31
KJ Walker scored a team-high 13 points to help the Timber Creek Falcons beat the Panthers in a District 4-6A playoff seeding game on Friday night at Fossil Ridge.
Timber Creek will begin next week’s playoffs as the 3-seed.
Ridge is the 4-seed.
In a defensive first-half, the Panthers led 13-10 at halftime, but the Falcons out scored Ridge 29-18 in the second half. Aniya Anderson scored 11 for Timber Creek, which will face LD Bell in the bi-district round at 8 p.m. Monday at UT-Arlington’s College Park Center.
The Panthers will face 3-6A champ Boswell at 6 p.m. Monday at Birdville.
Glen Rose 48, Stephenville 39
Lily Melton scored a game-high 18 points as the Glen Rose Tigers beat out the Yellowjackets in a District 6-4A playoff seeding game on Friday night at Hamilton HS.
Both teams ended the regular season as 6-4A co-champs. Glen Rose will be the No. 1 seed while Stephenville will be the No. 2 seed.
The Yellowjackets led 17-14 after the first quarter, but Glen Rose out scored them in the final three quarters.
The game was tied at 24-24 at intermission. The Tigers held Stephenville to six points in the third quarter and nine points in the fourth.
Aimee Flippen scored 10 points for Glen Rose and Alexis Rynders added nine.
Mya Wilson and Landri Withers led Stephenville with 13 and nine points.
