Basketball (2/5): Euless Trinity boys get second big win of the week and more from Fort Worth area

Boys

Euless Trinity 46, Chisholm Trail 44

The Trojans scored on a layup with four seconds left to beat the Rangers at Chisholm Trail in a District 3-6A game on Saturday. The game was pushed back a day due to the inclement weather this week.

It’s the second big win in district for Trinity, which also upset 6A state-ranked North Crowley, 55-50 on Tuesday at home. Trinity improves to 7-4 in district play and cushions its playoff hopes with three games left.

Chisholm Trail, second in 3-6A, falls to 9-2.

The Rangers’ shot at the buzzer didn’t drop, sending Trinity to the win.

Trailing 44-42, the Trojans nailed a jumper to tie it with 1:12 left in the fourth quarter. Chisholm Trail made a push in the final period. Trinity led 40-30, but the Rangers went on a 9-0 run. Trinity also led by 10 points in the third and fourth quarters.

Keller 72, Byron Nelson 63

The Indians had four in double figures and overcame Finley Bizjack’s 32 points to beat the Bobcats in District 4-6A on Saturday.

Keller improves to 10-0 in district and clinches the district championship for the first time since 2018.

Blake Bahr led Keller with 20 points followed by Jaden Boyle’s 15, Wyatt Bell’s 13 and Brooks Bahr’s 12.

Byron (6-3 in district) held Keller to only six first-quarter points and led 12-6, but the Indians out scored the Bobcats in the second, third and fourth quarters.

Keller tied the game at 24 during intermission and led 49-46 after the third quarter.

Girls

Keller Timber Creek 44, Southlake Carroll 39

Deja Lumsden led all scorers with 16 points and the Timber Creek Falcons upset top-ranked Southlake Carroll in District 4-6A play on Saturday.

Carroll entered the day undefeated in district at 10-0 and was state ranked in Class 6A.

The Dragons were also the No. 1 team in the Fort Worth-area Class 6A rankings.

Timber Creek led 12-6 after the first quarter and 22-15 at halftime. KJ Walker added 11 points for the Falcons. They held Carroll’s top two scorers Camryn Tade and Milania Jordan to 10 and seven points.

Kylie Swanson led the Dragons with 13 points.

Emelie Ezukanma chipped in eight points for Timber Creek.

Haltom 56, FW Paschal 27

The Lady Buffalos dominated the Panthers from the tip to stay in the hunt for a playoff spot in District 3-6A on Saturday.

Haltom improves to 6-7 with one game left.

North Crowley is fourth at 7-6 while Haltom is a game back in fifth. Both teams are 1-1 in the season series. North Crowley ends the regular season against Chisholm Trail. Haltom faces Boswell.

Haltom held Paschal to four points in the first quarter and three in the second while leading 24-7 at intermission. The Buffs extended the lead to 42-13 at the end of the third.

Madeline Fisher led Haltom with 15 points. Megan Snow and Mar’Kencia Brisby chipped in 10 and nine points.
