Basketball recap (1/7): Last second shot helps Chisholm Trail boys and more from Fort Worth area

Boys

Chisholm Trail 47, Boswell 45

Kelton Coleman drove to the basket and hit from five feet with two seconds left to push the Rangers past the Pioneers in a District 3-6A boys basketball game at Chisholm Trail on Friday night.

The win kept the Rangers undefeated at 3-0 in district play. Boswell dropped to 1-2.

Chisholm Trail scored the final seven points in the first quarter to grab a 13-11 lead.

But Boswell had a big second quarter led by Dre Brown and Caiden Punt as the Pioneers went into halftime leading the Rangers 28-17. They out scored the Rangers 17-4 in the period.

Zion Dudley pulled Chisholm within 39-32 after banking in a three-pointer to beat the third quarter buzzer.

The Rangers, who had their largest deficit at 32-19 in the third quarter, chipped away in the fourth with baskets by Coleman, Arop Arop and Devon Sexton.

The game was tied at 43-43 and 45-45 with under a minute left, but both teams committed turnovers with Boswell giving the ball to Chisholm with 21 seconds left on the clock.

After a timeout, Coleman took the inbound pass and killed the clock before hitting the game winner.

Coleman had a team-high 14 points. Arop added 12 and Sexton chipped in seven.

Punt and Brown led the Pioneers with 17 and 14 points.

Keller 69, Keller Fossil Ridge 50

The Indians had four players score in double figures led by Parker Hannah and Jaden Boyle’s 14 points in a District 4-6A win over the Panthers on Friday night.

Blake Bahr scored 13 for Keller and Grayson Price added 10 for Keller, which improved to 3-0 in district and 16-8 overall.

Fossil Ridge only trailed 11-10 after the first quarter, but Keller out scored the Panthers 23-9 in the second quarter to help pull away.

Wyatt Bell chipped in nine for the Indians.

Fossil Ridge was led by Jaiden Green’s 14 points. Javi Espino and Donovan Goff added 12 and 10 points.

Arlington Martin 89, Arlington Lamar 53

The Warriors got out to a 30-point halftime lead in their District 4-6A win over the Vikings on Friday night.

Martin, which entered the week as the new No. 1 Class 6A team in the Fort Worth-area, out scored Lamar in all four quarters.

A total of 13 Warriors scored led by Ismael Smith-Flores who had 16 points. Cody Stevens and Andre Norris added 11 and 10 points.

Elijah Powers led Lamar with 21 points. Jakota Woodard added 17.

Birdville 54, Richland 53

Daniel Sykes hit the game-winner as time expired and the Hawks pulled out the win over the Royals in District 6-5A on Friday night at Thomas Coliseum.

Both teams went to 2-1 in district play.

Mansfield Timberview 68, Mansfield Summit 66

Behind Chendall Weaver’s 26 points and Jared Washington’s 21 points, the Timberview Wolves out lasted the Summit Jaguars in a key District 8-5A game on Friday night.

Timberview, the No. 1 ranked Class 5A team in the area, trailed 35-28 at intermission, but was able to pour in 23 points in the third quarter.

Washington’s first three made baskets came from behind the arc and he finished with 11 points in the period to help push the Wolves over the Jags 51-47 entering the fourth quarter.

Donovan O’Day added 12 points for Timberview.

Nick Shogbonyo led Summit with 18 points. Richard Lemboye and David Terrell added 16 and 14 points.

Girls

Boswell 65, Chisholm Trail 38

The Pioneers hit 12 three-pointers, led by Nya Robertson’s six treys for a game-high 29 points during their big second-half win in District 3-6A over the Rangers on Friday night.

Boswell improved to 20-6 overall and 5-0 in district play.

Upset minded Chisholm Trail made a late push in the first quarter and trailed 14-13. Boswell started to pull away and led 28-21 and 30-22 in the second quarter. But the Rangers cut it to 30-25 at halftime.

After Boswell scored the first five points of the game, Chisholm’s Sydney Allen hit back-to-back threes. Madison Watkins scored for the Rangers and the game was tied at 8-8.

Boswell’s Chloe Mann hit a three to spark a 10-2 Boswell run to push the lead to nine. Mann and Chisholm’s Gia Bradley traded three-pointers in the third quarter to make it 33-28.

Kayla Hill found Alena DeLeon for a three-point play to push the Boswell lead back to nine. Robertson hit a corner three and the Pioneers led 46-33 after the third quarter.

Tori Echols and DeLeon scored in the paint and Robertson got a steal and layup to make it 20 midway through the fourth quarter. Boswell out scored Chisholm 19-5 in the fourth and 35-13 in the second half.

Mann hit five threes for 18 points.

Allen led Chisholm with 12. Jewel Strange and Bradley added nine and eight points.

Brewer 44, Aledo 41

Aolani Woldai led all scorers with 21 points and the Bears picked up the District 5-5A win over the Ladycats on Friday night.

Brewer had trouble scoring in the first half with just 14 points. Aledo led 17-14 at the break.

But the Bears doubled up the Ladycats in the third quarter, 16-8 and Brewer hung on in the fourth quarter for the win.

Aledo was led by Claire Byars who scored 19 points. Reagan Davis chipped in 10.

Southlake Carroll 47, Eaton 45

Trailed by seven points entering the fourth quarter, the Dragons saved their best in the final period out scoring the Eagles 18-9 to edge out the two-point win in District 4-6A on Friday night.

Camryn Tade scored 25 points while Taryn Barnes added 11.

Carroll, which improved to 4-0 in district and 18-4 overall, led 15-7 after the first quarter, but Eaton was able to out score the Dragons 15-9 in the second and 14-5 in the third to grab the lead.

Emma Dulaney led Eaton with 18 points.

LD Bell 65, Haltom 40

Hallie Rhodes scored a game-high 34 points and the Blue Raiders beat the Buffalos in District 3-6A on Friday night.

Bell improved to 4-1 in district and 18-7 overall.

The Raiders came out strong in the first quarter leading the Buffs 20-6. They would hold Haltom to just three points in the second quarter and went into intermission ahead 31-9.

Bell led 49-21 after the third quarter.

Jayden Rhodes added 16 points for the Raiders while Haltom was led by Kailee Beaudion-Foliaki who scored nine points.

Midlothian Heritage 84, Hillsboro 19

The Heritage Jaguars held Hillsboro to single digit points in all four quarter to pick up another District 11-4A win on Friday night.

Heritage is 5-0 in district and 20-5 overall.

The Jags poured in a whopping 36 points in the first quarter and 60 points by halftime. They held Hillsboro to 7 points, 5, 4 and 3 in the four quarters.

Four Heritage players scored in double digits led by Jerzie Bryant’s 16. Elise Stafford added 14 and Grace Sweeney scored 13. Taysie Trejo chipped in 11 points.

FW Dunbar 69, FW Carter-Riverside 18

Tityanna McKinney dropped 28 points and Tomi Graves added 15 as the Wildcats beat the Eagles in District 8-4A on Friday night.

Dallas Henry scored 13 for Dunbar.

The Wildcats led 16-8 after the first quarter and 31-15 at halftime before holding the Eagles scoreless in the third quarter and to just three points after intermission.
