Basketball recap (1/4): Euless Trinity boys storm by LD Bell and more from Fort Worth area

Euless Trinity 69, LD Bell 53
The Trojans got out to a big second-quarter lead to help pull away against the Blue Raiders in a District 3-6A rivalry boys basketball game on Tuesday night.
Trinity and Bell both moved to 1-1 in district play.
A 9-3 lead was built by Trinity in the opening minutes. Noel Kabanga assisted on a Breylin Talbert corner three. The lead grew to 11-3 and 14-4 after three free throws by Kole Verdadero.
Jaidyn Peters’ three for Bell cut the lead to 14-7 late in the first quarter, but Trinity would score 17 of the next 20 points. The Trojans led 21-10 and increased it with a pair of baskets from 6-8 big man Magoon Gwath. Three 3-pointers, two from Jalen Flournoy made it 34-12 in the second quarter.
Trinity led 35-14 at halftime.
The lead nearly hit 30 in the third quarter until Bell made a small push. The Blue Raiders got a couple fast-break baskets and a pair of threes from Tanner Taylor to cut it to 49-33 at the end of the third.
But Bell wouldn’t get closer until the closing minutes.
Verdadero led Trinity with three 3-pointers and 14 points. Kabanga added 13 and Talbert chipped in 11. Justin Toto led Bell with a game-high 19 points, including 14 in the second half.
Mansfield Legacy 69, Burleson Centennial 62
The Legacy Broncos scored 27 points in the third quarter to hang on against the upset-minded Centennial Spartans in District 8-5A on Tuesday night.
In a meeting between two top 10 Class 5A teams in the area, Centennial could do little wrong in the first half with a 19-10 lead in the first quarter. The Spartans increased it to double digits at 39-27 at intermission.
But Legacy outscored Centennial 27-13 in the third quarter to take a two-point lead and Centennial was held to only 10 points in the fourth.
Three Broncos scored in double figures led by Lejai Jordan’s 19 points. Amir McMillan and Isaiah Manning added 12 points. Wayne Wiggins chipped in nine. Jordan Jenkins led the Spartans with 26 points and 10 rebounds. Bryce Robinson added 16 points, four boards and three assists.
Byron Nelson 70, Keller Fossil Ridge 50
Finley Bizjack continues his scoring hot streak with 35 points to push the Bobcats past the Panthers in a District 4-6A game on Tuesday night. Conner Lindsey added 12.
The Bobcats pulled away late with 25 points in the fourth quarter. Fossil Ridge scored 15.
Byron led 13-7 after the first quarter and 27-18 at halftime.
Jakob Zenon added nine for the Bobcats.
Javi Espino and Jaiden Green led Ridge with 13 points apiece. Kwamir McBean added 12.
Colleyville Heritage 85, Denton 47
Tristan Strength had a game-high 22 points as the Panthers exploded past the Broncos in a District 6-5A basketball game on Tuesday night.
Heritage scored 20 or more points in three of four quarters, including a 23-8 margin after the first quarter. The Panthers led 39-24 at half and 61-39 after the third quarter.
Caden Hornberger and Carson Jach added 11 points each for Heritage.
Girls
Keller 42, Keller Timber Creek 29
The Indians held the Falcons to their lowest scoring performance during a District 4-6A win on Tuesday night.
Keller led 12-11 after the first quarter as Timber Creek struggled to score in the second and third quarters with just a combined five points. Jaeden Gillam led Keller with 14 points.
Ava Dunagan added 12 points for the Indians.
Keller led 26-13 at halftime and 37-16 after the third quarter.
Deja Lumsden led Timber Creek with 11 points. KJ Walker added nine.
LD Bell 39, Euless Trinity 25
The Blue Raiders scored the first eight points and never trailed during their District 3-6A win over rival Trinity on Tuesday night. Hallie Rhodes led all scorers with 17 points.
Jayden Rhodes and Hallie Rhodes hit back-to-back threes and Tyra Jackson hit just inside the arc to get Bell ahead 8-0. Jackson hit a corner 3-pointer and Bell led 11-3 after the first quarter.
Trinity was held without a field goal after the opening period.
Jackson hit a second three in extended first-half minutes due to foul trouble from Jayden Rhodes. Hallie Rhodes added a pair of free throws and Bell led 18-7 past the midway point of the second quarter.
The Raiders led 26-8 at halftime while Trinity was held to two field goals and four free throws.
Trinity started to score in the third that included back-to-back threes from Brooklyn Jackson. Bell got back up 16 late in the third on a corner three from Katie Tietjen.
Jackson helped the Trojans get back within single digits, but the deficit was too large to overcome. Jackson led Trinity with three 3-pointers for nine points.
Haltom 46, Weatherford 35
The Buffalos picked up their fourth straight win and improved to 3-1 in District 3-6A after taking down the Kangaroos on Tuesday night, led by Madeline Fisher’s 21 points.
Haltom trailed 10-9 after the first quarter, but hung on late with a 15-11 margin in the fourth.
Markencia Brisby scored 12 for Haltom.
Joshua 44, Ennis 34
Kamdyn Graves led 16 points as the Owls beat Ennis in a District 14-5A games on Tuesday night. Ella Tallent added six points and Skyler Brooks and Sawyer Colbert each had five.
Midlothian Heritage 44, Waxahachie Life 29
Jerzie Bryant and Elise Stafford both dropped nine points as the Jaguars beat Life in a District 11-4A girls basketball game on Tuesday night. Ivy Preusser and Maddie Berumen added six points apiece.
Heritage led 14-11 after the first quarter and 24-18 at intermission.
