Timber Creek clinches playoff berth, Aledo sweeps Rider and more from Fort Worth area

Yale commit Halle Sherlock put in 27 assists and Camryn Dennis had 26 digs as the Falcons beat the Chargers on Friday, 25-17, 25-16, 25-13 to secure their first playoff berth since 2017.
The Falcons improved to 5-6 in District 4-6A and will enter the playoffs as a No. 4 seed with a bi-district showdown with District 3-6A champion Boswell (Nov. 1-2).
Timber Creek (21-16 overall) could do little wrong while Central (15-21, 1-11) struggled.
Alexa Ranete had a team-high 12 kills for the Falcons. Lily Hamilton added seven kills and four blocks. Callie Muff and Alisa Ranete had six kills apiece.
Aledo 3, Wichita Falls Rider 0
The Ladycats made the two-hour drive on Friday night and came up with their biggest win of the season, beating the Raiders 25-21, 29-27, 25-22 to force a tie on top the District 5-5A standings.
Aledo (24-14, 8-1) handed Rider (22-9, 8-1) its first district loss and snapped its 13-game winning streak. The season series is split after the Raiders swept Aledo on its home court on Oct. 5.
Sam Smith finished with eight kills, including the final swing on match point, and 21 digs for Aledo. Vivian Parker put in a double-double (10 kills, 10 digs) and UTEP commit Mattie Gantt flirted with a triple-double (37 assists, 17 digs, 9 kills).
Maddie Frank added seven kills and four blocks for the Ladycats while Mia Little had a team-high 22 digs. Payton Hilmer chipped in eight kills and Skylar Ellison led the team with four blocks.
Aledo and Rider are tied for a district championship with one game left. Aledo plays Wichita Falls on Tuesday while Rider faces Brewer.
Azle 3, Brewer 2
Meagan Ledbetter finished with 38 kills and 29 digs as the Hornets outlasted the Bears to clinch a playoff berth and the No. 3 seed in District 5-5A.
Camryn Hinkle went over 1,000 career assists Friday night for Azle while Makenna Dillow surpassed 1,000 career digs. Hinkle finished with 59 assists and 18 digs. Dillow added 38 digs and seven assists.
Karlee Locke chipped in 11 kills for the Hornets and Garrisyn Christian added 10 kills.
With one game left, Azle improves to 19-18 overall and 5-4 in district. The Hornets will play Justin Northwest in the first round of the playoffs (Nov. 1-2).
Brewer can still clinch the final playoff berth and its first since 1999. The Bears and Granbury are tied with a 3-6 record. Brewer plays Rider on Tuesday. Granbury takes on Azle.
The season series is split with each team winning in five sets.
Colleyville Heritage 3, Justin Northwest 0
The Panthers secured the District 6-5A championship and No. 1 playoff seed after taking down the Texans on Friday night, 25-17, 25-20, 25-15. Heritage improved to 36-9 overall and 12-1 in district.
Houston commit Ella Busey had 14 kills and Air Force commit Reagan Engler added nine kills and seven blocks for the Panthers. Morgan Howard finished with 27 assists and Lindsey Houran chipped in 16 digs.
The Panthers will face Brewer or Granbury in the first round.
Northwest falls to 25-11 and 10-3, and will be the No. 2 seed with a first-round date against Azle.
Keller 3, Fossil Ridge 1
West Virginia commit Melanie McGann went over 500 kills this season with 23 as the Indians wrapped up the District 4-6A championship Friday night over the Panthers, 25-16, 25-23, 24-26, 25-10.
The Indians (25-12, 11-0) will be No. 1 in the playoffs and await Euless Trinity or LD Bell in the first round.
Leah Ford added 14 kills for Keller and Reagan Sharp chipped in nine kills. Landry McEachern and Kea Whillock finished with 17 digs apiece, and Taylor Polivka put in 43 assists.
Eaton 3, Southlake Carroll 0
Lindsey Harris and Emily Simmons combined for 22 kills and the Eagles secured the No. 2 seed in District 4-6A Friday night with a 25-10, 25-19, 25-20 win over the Dragons.
Eaton (31-3, 9-2) sets a program-record for wins in a season.
Simmons added 13 digs and four aces. Lily Bickley chipped in nine kills and ULM commit Callie Humphrey had a game-high 27 digs. Texas Tech commit Paige Mooney finished with seven kills and 14 digs. Lorena Gomez and Keely Shearer combined for 35 assists.
Carroll (24-15, 8-3) will enter the playoffs as a No. 3 seed.
Both teams will await Weatherford or Chisholm Trail in the bi-district round.
