Fort Worth O.D. Wyatt continues to roll in District 4-5A Division 2.

“Once you enter district play, every game is important,” Wyatt head coach Zachary Criss said. “This week we are playing for better seeding in the playoffs as well as another game in our quest for a district championship.”

The Chaparrals (6-2 overall, 5-0 district) are one step closer on that quest for the championship after they picked up the 14-10 win against Fort Worth Southwest at Clark Stadium on Friday night.

The first score of the night was made by Wyatt’s Amari Moore with 3:11 remaining in the first quarter. The second quarter was also just a single-score quarter as well when Chaparrals’ Dartagnan Crawford went in for the touchdown with just 13 seconds remaining in the half.

Wyatt led 14-0 at intermission.

The Raiders (3-5, 2-3) were determined to get points on the board in the second half. Cyndric Gilbert scored a touchdown with 4:31 left in the third quarter. The only other points scored in the game came from a 27-yard field goal by Southwest’s Alexander Gomez in the fourth quarter.

Even though the Chaparrals didn’t score in the second half, their defensive efforts and points in the first half proved enough for them to come off with a win.

“We scored a lot of points last week and so this week the defense really stepped up and demonstrated that we do have the ability to stop a tough offense,” Criss said.

Grapevine is also unbeaten in district play. The Mustangs and Wyatt will meet in Week 11 during the final game of the regular season.
