Son of Dallas Cowboys great becomes highest-ranked football commit in FAU history
Shedeur Sanders, the son of Dallas Cowboys great and two-time Super Bowl champion Deion Sanders, announced his commitment to Florida Atlantic University on Monday.
According to 247Sports, Sanders becomes the highest-ranked recruit to commit to FAU in program history.
Sanders is a 4-star rising senior that plays quarterback at Trinity Christian Cedar Hill, where his father is offensive coordinator.
In three high school seasons, Sanders has amassed nearly 9,000 yards of total offense and accounted for 134 touchdowns (123 passing). He’s led TC-Cedar Hill to back-to-back TAPPS Division II state titles while posting a 27-1 record.
Last season, the 6-foot-2 Sanders threw for a career-high 3,459 yards and 47 touchdowns compared to just four interceptions. He added 11 rushing touchdowns.
Sanders is ranked as the No. 14 pro-style quarterback in the nation and No. 34 overall player in Texas, according to 247Sports. He held 25 offers, which also included LSU, Georgia, Baylor, Oregon, Michigan and UCLA.
He also had offers from Florida State, where Deion was a two-time All-American, and South Carolina, where older brother Shilo Sanders plays cornerback.
In June, Sanders had the opportunity to work out with six-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady.
Deion Sanders played 14 seasons with five organizations, most notably with the Dallas Cowboys. He was an eight-time Pro Bowl selection, nine-time first-team All-Pro, a member of the NFL 1990s All-Decade Team and inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
