Former Crowley, Angelo State defensive end signs as undrafted free agent with Ravens

Former Crowley and Angelo State standout edge rusher Markus Jones signed as an undrafted free agent with the Baltimore Ravens on Saturday.

Jones was voted the national Defensive Player of the Year in Division II last season. He was the Lone Star Conference Preseason Defensive Player of the Year.

He led all divisions of college football in 2018 with 36 1/2 tackles for loss. He also broke ASU’s single-season sack record with 17 1/2 and set a new career mark with 37.

As a junior, Jones led the nation with seven blocked kicks. He was conference defensive lineman of the year after finishing with 63 tackles and 10 1/2 sacks. He also earned All-American honors.

Jones had 54 tackles, 16 for loss and 7 1/2 sacks in 2016; 25 tackles and 6 1/2 for loss in 2015.

At Crowley, Jones made 90 total tackles, 76 solo, and seven sacks as a senior and was named district defensive MVP. He recorded 57 tackles and five sacks as a junior.
