What she did: Krueger, who will continue her soccer career at Sam Houston State, recorded her 17th and 18th shutouts of the season during playoff wins over Birdville and Burleson.

Against Birdville in the 5A Region I area round, the Broncos and Hawks went scoreless before Krueger made three saves during the penalty kicks.

Legacy defeated Burleson 3-0 in the regional quarterfinal to clinch a spot in the regional tourney for the fourth time in five years. The Broncos will play Aledo on Friday in Wichita Falls.

BOYS SOCCER PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Freddy Hernandez, Sr., Burleson, FORW

What he did: Hernandez scored twice including the game-winning goal in the 69th minute to beat Birdville 3-2 in the 5A Region I quarterfinals and send the Elks to the regional tourney for the first time since 1998.

Burleson, which also beat Brewer in the area round, will play EP Bel Air on Friday in Wichita Falls.

Hernandez has scored 16 goals this season.

Jose Ortiz, Sam Houston: Scored two goals each time vs. Midland and Frenship.
