Some of the best boys basketball teams to play in Robert Hughes Hall of Fame Classic
The floor at the Wilkerson-Greines Activity Center is named after a Fort Worth basketball pioneer, hall of famer Robert Hughes. Now the city is bringing more to his name with the first annual Robert Hughes Hall of Fame Classic on Friday and Saturday.
Some of the best boys basketball teams will take part in the two-day event with six games each day.

Robert Hughes, who retired in 2004 after 47 years, finished with 1,333 career wins, the most in U.S. high school basketball history. He won two UIL state titles with FW Dunbar, and three Prairie View Interscholastic League titles with Fort Worth I.M. Terrell during the days of racial segregation. Hughes was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in September 2017.
THE TEAMS
Guyer: Wildcats finished 38-2 last season in the 6A Region I tournament. Guyer was ranked as the No. 1 team in the state and finished No. 4 nationally. The Wildcats, who are ranked No. 1 again this year, have two standout signees in De’Vion Harmon (Oklahoma) and Jalen Wilson (Michigan).
North Crowley: Panthers are No. 9 in Class 6A and have been one of the best teams in the state during Tommy Brakel’s 20-year career. They won a state title in 2008 and have reached a regional tourney 8 of the past 11 seasons.
Timberview: Wolves enter as the No. 5 team in 5A. They won a state title in 2017 and finished the year No. 2 in the state.
Wyatt: Chaparrals went to the regional tournament for the first time in 10 years last season.
Dunbar: Wildcats averaged over 70 points per game last season. They went to state in 2016.
Universal Academy: Went to the 1A Region III tournament last season and finished 20-8.
Crowley: Eagles have been a playoff team for 22-consecutive years.
Trimble Tech: Bulldogs are coming over a tournament title in Keene.
Poly: Parrots nearly averaged 60 points per game last season.
OKC Douglass: An eight-time state champ including five-straight from 2010-14.
Tulsa Memorial: A six-time state champ; 77-9 the past three years.
Peabody: Warhorses are 108-8 the past three seasons.
