In the biggest game of the season, Wylie’s star freshman stepped up and had a career night.
Ana Heath registered 24 kills as the Pirates beat first-place Sachse to force a tie atop the 10-6A standings. She hit .525 and was voted Dallas-Fort Worth volleyball player of the week.
Wylie would win out along with Sachse. The Pirates won a flip and enter the playoffs as a No. 1 seed.
Heath added 7 and 10 kills in wins over Rowlett and Garland.

Burleson Centennial’s standout libero Caroline Garlington came in second place. She recorded 45 digs during the week and finished the year with 20 or more digs in 7 of the final 8 games.
WEEK 8 FOOTBALL
QB Adam Duncan, Brewer
Duncan came in second among Fort Worth area quarterbacks during Week 8 with 304 yards passing. He threw 3 TDs as the Bears beat Saginaw 54-18.
RB Laderrious Mixon, Birdville
Mixon rushed for 251 yards and 3 TDs and also caught two TD passes as the Hawks improved to 7-0.
WR Chris Taylor, North Crowley
Taylor made 9 catches for 170 yards and 2 TDs against Sam Houston. He’s up to 42 reception, 788 yards and 7 TDs.
DEF DaQuan Campbell, Burleson Centennial
Campbell set a program record with 3 INTs including a pick-six during a 42-0 victory over Waco University.
SP Wesley McHugh, Joshua
The Owls kicker booted the go-ahead 41-yard FG with 2 minutes left to beat Arlington Seguin as Joshua won its first game in district this season.
