The Colony head coach Rudy Rangel pulled out his trick bag late Friday night against Frisco Lone Star, a district battle with first-place on the line.
With his Cougars trailing 14-13 and 18 seconds left, Rangel’s offense executed a perfect hook-and-ladder for the game-winning 40-yard TD. He calls his play the “Bronco.”
Star Local Media sports writer Bryan Murphy was there to capture the moment.

The Colony took a 21-14 lead with 8 seconds left and the Cougars went on to upset state-ranked Lone Star, which entered the week No. 6 in the AP 5A state poll.
Wide receiver Keith Miller made the 17-yard catch before flipping it to Myles Price who took it to the house.
The Colony improved to 6-1 and 4-0 in 5-5A Div. 1. Lone Star drops to 5-2 and 3-1.
The play reminds us of the 2006 Boise State team that upset Oklahoma in the Fiesta Bowl. Boise State trailed by seven, also with 18 seconds left and scored from 50 yards.
