You voted for volleyball and football players of the week. Here are the winners
For the second time this season, a McKinnon won volleyball player of the week. Older sis Kelli, a Harding commit, won a few weeks back while younger sis Skyler is the latest winner.
Skyler, a junior, recorded a career-high 17 kills against Southlake Carroll on Friday to help the Bobcats stay undefeated in district. She added a .438 hitting percentage, 2 digs and 1 block.
Against Denton Guyer on Oct. 9, McKinnon had 7 kills and 6 digs.
Byron Nelson beat Keller on Tuesday to clinch the district championship and No. 1 seed in 5-6A.
Cedar Hill’s Morghan Chambers came in second place.
WEEK 7 FOOTBALL
QB Cade Rhodes, Grapevine
Rhodes had his best performance as a Mustang with 315 yards on 24 of 40 passing and 5 TDs. Grapevine won big vs Denton.
RB Jordan Williams, Arlington Lamar
Williams was unstoppable during a shootout win over North Crowley, running 31 times for 400 yards and 3 TDs. The Vikings improved to 6-0.
WR Chad Turner, Colleyville Heritage
Turner led the Panthers against No. 3 Denton Ryan with 11 catches for a career-high 182 yards and scored 1 TD.
DEF Johnny Smith-Rider, Haltom
Smith-Rider helped the Buffalos to a 6-0 start, their best in 21 years. He recorded 12 tackles, 2 sacks and recovered a key fumble during a 48-34 upset over No. 9 Euless Trinity.
