Bedford product Cierra Johnson shot 81 percent from the field and connected on all three of her 3-point attempts while scoring 24 points to lead the UTA to its third straight win, 80-62, over Oral Roberts on Thursday at the Mabee Center in Tulsa.

Johnson, an L.D. Bell graduate who was the Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Year in 2016-17, was in her bag early, hitting all three treys in the first quarter, which just so happened to be all of UTA’s points through the first quarter as the Mavs (5-2) trailed 12-9.

Kelsey Johnson scored three quick buckets to open up the second quarter as UTA went on to take control of the game heading into the half up 22-14.

UTA stayed consistent from beyond the arc in the first half and made six on 66 percent.

Johnson came out the second half with a quick steal and lay in to put UTA up by 10.

The Lady Mavs lead never wavered as Terryn Milton got red hot in the third quarter and scored 13 points to put Oral Roberts (5-2) away. Milton finished with 17 points and four assists. Freshman Claire Chastain chipped in with 11 points.

UTA looks to make it four in a row as it travels to Houston on Monday at 7 p.m.
