TCU will host first two rounds of March Madness. Which teams are coming to Fort Worth?
The TCU women’s basketball program continues its historic 2024-25 season by earning a No. 2 regional seed in the upcoming NCAA Tournament.
Who will the Horned Frogs play in the first round and which teams will be coming to Fort Worth?
The Horned Frogs will play 15th-seeded Fairleigh Dickinson on Friday at 2:30 p.m. CT (ESPN), while No. 7 Louisville will play No. 10 Nebraska at 5 p.m. (ESPN) at Schollmaier Arena.
The Horned Frogs won the Big 12 regular and postseason titles as well as having the Big 12 player and coach of the year.
A look at the four teams who will play in Fort Worth:
TCU
Record: 31-3 (16-2 in Big 12)
Region: No. 2 seed in the Birmingham 3 region
Season recap: In the best season in the program’s history, TCU won its first Big 12 title, lost only one non-conference game to top-ranked South Carolina and went undefeated in 19 home games. TCU had the fourth-best turnover-to-assist ratio in the country, the Horned Frogs will be favored in the first two rounds.
Player to watch: Hailey Van Lith had the best season in her college career, earning first-team All-Big 12, Big 12 Player of the Year, Newcomer of the Year and is a finalist for the John R. Wooden Award.
Fairleigh Dickinson
Record: 29-3 (16-0 in Northeast)
Region: No. 15 seed in the Birmingham 3 region
Season recap: Making its first tournament appearance in school history after winning the NEC Championship, for the first time since 1992, with an undefeated in-conference record.
Player to watch: Teneisia Brown led the Knights in scoring with 15.0 points, 9.8 rebounds and 2.0 assists and 1.2 steals per game.
Louisville
Record: 21-10 (13-5 in ACC)
Region: No. 7 seed in the Birmingham 3 Region
Season recap: The team with which Hailey Van Lith started her college career with, the Cardinals earned their seventh straight NCAA Tournament appearance. The Cardinals had two All-ACC selections with senior Jayda Curry and freshman Tajianna Roberts
Player to watch: Curry, a transfer from Cal, was the lone Cardinal who garnered a first-team selection after scoring 13.4 points, 3.1 assists and 2.6 rebounds this season.
Nebraska
Record: 21-11 (10-8 in Big 10)
Region: No. 10 seed in the Birmingham 3 Region.
Season recap: The Cornhuskers were a middle-of-the-road team in the Big 10, finishing 10th out of 18 teams. Nebraska’s last game was a loss to eventual Big 10 Champion and overall No. 1 tournament seed UCLA.
Player to watch: Alexis Markowski earned a second-team All-Big 10 selection continuing an all-time great career at Nebraska where she ranks No. 7 in career points, No. 2 in career rebounds and No. 1 in all-time double-doubles.
