TCU announcing starting quarterback after Thursday practice
TCU is expected to announce a starting quarterback after practice today when coach Gary Patterson meets with reporters, assistant athletic director for media relations Mark Cohen said.
Kenny Hill, a former Southlake Carroll and Texas A&M quarterback, and Foster Sawyer of Fort Worth All Saints have been competing for the job.
Patterson said when fall practice began he would like to have a No. 1 quarterback in place nine to 10 days before the season opener. The Horned Frogs take on South Dakota State on Sept. 3 in a 7 p.m. kickoff at Amon G. Carter Stadium.
“It’s been a great battle, to be honest with you,” Patterson said at his last talk with reporters, on Aug. 17.
Hill is attempting a new start at TCU after a promising start and disappointing finish at Texas A&M in 2014. Sawyer is a veteran with two years of experience at TCU, who Patterson said needed to “roll his sleeves up” to compete for the job.
