When it comes to winning close games, no Big 12 coach has done it more than TCU’s Gary Patterson.

CBS Sports’ Jon Solomon (@JonSolomonCBS) ran the numbers and found Patterson is 43-25 in games decided by one score. That’s a .632 winning percentage in those games, ahead of Mike Gundy’s 23-14 (.622) at Oklahoma State and Bob Stoops’ 33-22 (.600) at OU.

“Over the past two years, Patterson is 9-2 in these games after going 4-7 in TCU’s first two Big 12 seasons,” Solomon writes.

Patterson’s in the top 10 nationally among the coaches listed by CBS Sports. Also up there — Urban Meyer, Brian Kelly and Tommy Tuberville.

The Horned Frogs’ season begins Sept. 3 against South Dakota State.
