TCU women jolt Oklahoma State for first win in Stillwater

Zahna Medley scored 24 points and Veja Hamilton had 19 as the TCU women raced past Oklahoma State 71-62 on Saturday at Gallagher-Iba Arena.

In sweeping the season series, the Horned Frogs (12-6, 4-3 Big 12) won for the first time at OSU after going 0-5, including 0-2 in Big 12 play. TCU had defeated the Cowgirls 70-66 in Fort Worth on Jan. 10.

The victory broke a two-game TCU losing streak while OSU (12-6, 2-5) lost its third straight for the first time since February 2012.

TCU, which shot 50.9 percent from the field, built a 43-27 lead after a 9-2 run in the first three minutes of the second half fueled by Medley’s seven points. The Frogs’ lead never dropped below six points the rest of the way.

Oklahoma State led 17-9 with 11 1/2 minutes to play in the first half, but the Frogs went on a 25-8 run, including the final 10 points of the first half, to lead 34-25 at halftime.

Medley finished 8 of 12 from the field and 5 of 7 from 3-point range, while Hamilton was 9 of 18 shooting.

Senior forward Chelsea Prince scored 11 points and had four steals and three blocks.

The Frogs return home to host No. 3 Baylor at 7 p.m. Tuesday
