TCU women upset Texas Tech in Big 12 tennis opener

TCU upset No. 11 Texas Tech 4-0 on Saturday in its Big 12 women’s tennis opener in Lubbock.

The No. 67 Frogs (7-2) dominated the doubles portion of the match. TCU then took the momentum into singles where it scored two quick singles wins before Olaya Garrido-Rivas stormed back to clinch the Frogs’ fifth sweep of the season.

Men’s tennis: No. 3 TCU (12-2) beat visiting No. 39 Columbia 4-0 for its fifth sweep of the season.

The Frogs picked up the doubles point when Alex Rybakov and Cameron Norrie paired together for the first time this season.

Reese Stalder and Hudson Blake upset the No. 10 pair of Shawn Hadavi and Richard Pham to seal the doubles point.

Beach volleyball: TCU earned a split in its inaugural home matches, sweeping Texas A&M Corpus Christi before falling to No. 2 Florida State 5-0 on the first day of Fight at the Fort.

The Frogs (5-3) will play host to Houston Baptist at 11 a.m. Sunday.

Softball: No. 5 Louisiana Lafayette hit three grand slams and Kylee Trahan pitched a perfect game in the second game as the Ragin’ Cajuns swept the Mavericks in a Sun Belt Conference doubleheader 13-0 and 16-0.

UTA (21-4, 0-2) had only two hits.
