TCU erased a disappointing end to the regular season with its rout Thursday of UT Rio Grande Valley in the opening round of the WNIT.

On Saturday, the Horned Frogs will look to advance to the third round of the tournament for the first time since 2008 when they host Eastern Michigan at 7 p.m. at Schollmaier Arena. It is the second consecutive season that they’ve reached the second round of the WNIT.

Eastern Michigan (22-11) beat St. Mary’s 74-73 on Thursday on a shot with 1.8 seconds remaining.

TCU shot 53.8 percent and 11 of 25 from 3-point range in its 97-73 victory over UTRGV.

The Horned Frogs entered the WNIT after losing to Kansas — which went winless in regular-season conference play — in the first round of the Big 12 tournament on March 4.

Three days before, TCU edged the Jayhawks 55-52 to end the regular season.
