TCU running back Aaron Green certainly wasn’t the most intriguing prospect at the Senior Bowl. That distinction belonged to North Dakota State quarterback Carson Wentz, or possibly Eastern Kentucky defensive end Noah Spence.

But Green had a solid showing on Saturday afternoon, and is hopeful that can boost his stock. Green scored the game’s first points on a nifty 25-yard touchdown run, starting between the tackles before finding room to run on the outside.

“It was just a one-back power, so I was just being patient and letting my eyes do all the work,” Green said. “I saw the guard pull, saw him get that block, so I cut inside of him and after that I just let Aaron Green be Aaron Green, and do what I had to do to get in the end zone.”

That proved to be his highlight play, finishing with 36 rushing yards on five carries. He also had a catch for minus-2 yards.

Green felt he took full advantage of this week, displaying ability in pass protection and catching the ball out of the backfield. He hasn’t received an invite to the NFL Combine yet, but is hopeful his Senior Bowl showing will land him one.

The NFL Combine is Feb. 23-29 at Lucus Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. The NFL Draft is is April 28-30 at Auditorium Theatre in Chicago.

“The main thing I wanted to focus on was improving on my pass protection,” Green said. “I definitely did that throughout the week. Also I did really well on special teams. That’s all I really wanted to do. I already knew I could run the ball with the best, so just wanted to make plays elsewhere.”

Green also enjoyed working with the Jacksonville Jaguars staff and compared it to his college career under Gary Patterson and the TCU staff.

“It was great [working with an NFL staff],” Green said. “It was a great experience. Being at TCU prepared me for this time here. The head coach is really hard down in Fort Worth. It definitely reminded me a lot of TCU.”
