TCU women moving up in rankings as they face No. 17 Oklahoma
The TCU women’s basketball team enters its third Big 12 game with a new source of confidence.
For the first time since the 2011-12 season, the Horned Frogs (10-3, 2-0 in Big 12) received votes in the Associated Press Top 25 poll. They haven’t been ranked since they came in at 21st in the Nov. 22, 2010, poll.
With wins over Texas Tech and Kansas State to begin Big 12 play, TCU moved up to No. 93 in RPI after entering conference play ranked No. 142. On Wednesday, they have a chance to boost their ranking when they host No. 17 Oklahoma (10-3, 1-1 in Big 12) at 6 p.m. at Schollmaier Arena.
The Sooners sit third in the conference in 3-point field goals made, averaging 7.69 per game, just behind TCU’s 7.85. Oklahoma has two scorers averaging double-figures: Kaylon Williams (14.4) and Peyton Little (12.6).
Three TCU players rank among the league’s top five 3-point shooters, led by Toree Thompson’s 50.8 percentage, which is the fifth in the nation.
Zahna Medley leads the conference in 3-point field goals made, averaging three per game.
