TCU men aim to forget ‘bad basketball’ it played in Big 12 opener
It was not an encouraging start to the Big 12 season for TCU.
The Horned Frogs shot 30 percent and committed 15 turnovers in a 69-48 loss at Oklahoma State.
At least they don’t have long to think about it.
They play another game Monday night, this time at home against West Virginia, about 49 hours after the end of Saturday’s loss.
That was some bad basketball. Ten-minute stretch where we were pretty bad.
TCU coach Trent Johnson on the Frogs’ 69-48 loss at Oklahoma State
The sooner they can get over it, the better.
“That was some bad basketball,” coach Trent Johnson said after the loss in Stillwater. “Ten-minute stretch where we were pretty bad.”
Turnovers continued to be a problem for TCU (8-5, 0-1). West Virginia (12-1, 1-0) will test the Frogs’ ball possession, too.
“Our deficiencies have been our inability to take care of the ball,” Johnson said. “Fifteen turnovers, three assists. We’re not where we need to be in terms of our mental or physical toughness versus good people.”
The Big 12 schedule is full of “good people.” After West Virginia on Monday, the Horned Frogs face Texas on Saturday, then go to Baylor and Kansas next week.
