TCU women doomed by cold shooting in loss at Butler
The TCU women’s basketball team shot a season-low 31.8 percent from the field Tuesday night, and Butler used an 11-0 run in the fourth quarter to beat the Horned Frogs 65-53 at historic Hinkle Fieldhouse.
Senior guard Zahna Medley had 13 points and five rebounds to lead the Horned Frogs (5-2), and junior Jada Butts added eight points and eight rebounds.
Tori Schickel came off the bench to score 21 points and grab 12 rebounds for the Bulldogs (4-2), who shot 46.4 percent from the field. Belle Obert added a triple-double with 12 points, 11 rebounds and 10 blocks.
The Horned Frogs used a 13-2 run to take a 23-14 lead midway through the second period, but the Bulldogs answered with an 11-0 run and the score was tied at 29 at halftime.
TCU trailed just 45-43 after three quarters, but Butler opened the final period with 11 straight points in the first four minutes to take a commanding 56-43 lead.
The Horned Frogs return home Saturday afternoon to face UL Monroe — the start of a four-game homestand that includes the opening of the Ed and Rae Schollmaier Arena on Dec. 20.
